This is one of the most loved combinations of tours in northern part of India where India’s two most visited monuments are showcasing their glory by standing tall for years, such as Taj Mahal in Agra and Golden Temple in Amritsar. Taj Mahal in Agra is outstandingly beautiful marble building built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife late Mumtaj Mahal who died while delivering her fourteenth child. Construction of Taj Mahal began in 1632 and completed in 1653. Emperor Shah Jahan had employed 20,000 workers for 22 years to complete this wonder. On other hand Amritsar is a historically rich city blessed with many tourist attractions. Amritsar is one of the largest cities of Punjab State in India. It is also considered as a spiritual center for Sikh religion. World famous Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib is also here in Amritsar which has been a cultural and religious center for Sikh religion for years though it is visited by all Indian communities. Golden Temple is designed to uphold the principle of equality amongst the people regardless of religion, caste, and social status. Amritsar city is also popular due to its close proximity to Pakistan which is just about 20 miles east of Lahor. That is why whoever comes to Amritsar, cannot afford to miss an opportunity to see change of guards and flag down ceremony at Wagah Border which is 28 kms away from Amritsar, lies on the Grand Trunk Road between Amritsar India and Lahor, Pakistan. City is also known for its rich cuisine and culture for the tragic massacre of Jallianwala Bagh in 1919 under British Rule. Jallianwala Bagh is another not to miss place when you are in Amritsar. Here it is located a memorial of the martyrs of 1919 massacre by British General Dyer. There is more to see here such as Martyr’s Gallery and Park out here. Amritsar is well connected by all means of transportation. Amritsar has an international Airport with flight connection to London Heathrow, Doha, Tashkent and Toronto and internal flight connections as well to Delhi and Chandigarh. Amritsar is well connected by train to all the major cities of India. Train is the most feasible and comfortable way to commute with. Amritsar Shatabdi train is being used like anything to travel between Delhi and Amritsar.
