Take A Break - Go Castle Surfing
Sometimes that rut we are in is so boring we would do anything to break out of it. The status quo can be mind-numbing. You wake up, fix breakfast and lunches, get the kids out the door, go to work, come home, cook dinner and go to bed. Ho-Hum. Face it, this is okay once in a while, but day after day it becomes unbearable. Every now and then we need to mix things up a little. We all need time to ourselves to get out and do something fun. We have probably all said that we are in desperate need of a vacation, especially those of us who spend half our time caring for and chasing after children. Even the planning stage of a vacation can be so time consuming we wonder if it's worth the hassle. In any case, given the state of our economy, the prospect of paying for a vacation is probably out of our reach anyway. This problem is not without a solution, however. You can get out of your rut, have some fun and be able to afford it too. Lots of vacationers from all over the world have discovered the joy of castle touring. Sure, there are castles on the Rhine, castles in France, castles on the Thames and castles all over the British Isles. For the American vacationer, it is prohibitively expensive to travel so far away. The good news is there are castles within the borders of the United States itself. Bishop's Castle in Colorado is a great example. Bishop's Castle has become one of Colorado's major tourist attractions. Even the folks who live very near it visit this stunning castle. Bishop's Castle is a famous place because it was built by a man named Jim Bishop who has been working on the structure since 1969. This castle is currently still a work in progress and the only one to ever work on this castle is none other than Jim Bishop himself. It is open to the public and doesn't cost any money. A donation is appreciated, though. People from all over the world come to marvel at this castle and how one man's love led him to build such an incredible castle from the ground up. Every single castle has a unique story to tell. Touring castles is a fine way to break the routine and learn something at the same time. The majesty and mystery provided by each individual castle puts you in a different place and time, and certainly a different frame of mind. There are many castles across America. Look them up and take the tour. Most of them, like Bishop's, are free to visit. Everyone needs to break out of their rut and taking a major jaunt to somewhere like Disney World Orlando or Paris can be a real bank account buster. While spending time in such resorts is a wonderful way to vacation, there are so many other things to do that are actually affordable that they should never be overlooked. Things like a castle touring mini-vacation can take us to a new dimension and give us the needed rest, relaxation and respite from rut that can breathe new air into our lives - even the daily grind looks better after a such a getaway.
