When you are expecting a child, it can be the most exciting and marvelous time of your life. A new child is on the way and you can’t wait to hold that little bundle of love and delight in your arms. But, before you can welcome your baby to your home, you want to make sure that some things are set in place so that your baby will arrive and have all the things that the baby needs. You need to make sure that you have a few outfits already selected for the child, because shopping for baby clothes after the baby is born will not be a feasible goal. If you don’t know the sex of your child, then choose neutral colors, like white, yellow, or green, and have a lot of newborn clothes on hand, as well as many blankets, as well. Depending on the weather, you will want either long sleeved shirts or short sleeved ones, but make sure that you have a good store of clothing ready for baby when he or she comes home. Also, keep a stock of diapers, though the hospital will give you some upon discharge, you still want to have a good supply at home. Be prepared with a good diaper disposal system, too, to avoid messy and flooded trashcans, and have a bottle warmer so that preparing formula will be an easy task whether or not you prepare to breastfeed. You want to make sure the crib is assembled before baby comes home so that there is a place for baby to sleep and you want to make sure you have a car seat properly installed in your vehicle before you get home. In fact, the hospital won’t let you leave with the baby if you don’t have a car seat and it is essential that you install it properly. Around your community, check for local services that help you properly install the car seat because you absolutely do not want to take any chances with faulty set up. When you bring baby home, there are a number of things to do, and you will probably be exhausted and tired. So, make sure that when your baby takes a nap, you also take a nap, so that when the baby sleeps you will be able to sleep. Keep a baby monitor with you at all times, whether you are going out to get the paper or whether you are taking a shower, and if you do take a shower, be sure there is someone to watch the baby at all times. Never leave the baby on the bed without a border or support and always make sure that you watch the baby. Having a new child can be the most exciting thing in the world, but don’t be afraid of asking for help when things become overwhelming. Whether it be the assistance of family taking over for a day or so, be sure that you find some time to get some rest and relax so that you can really try and get some rest so that you don’t wear yourself out.
