The testicles play a vital role in male reproductive health as they produce sperm and secrete male hormones, contributing to masculinity. Any issues with the testicles, such as orchitis or epididymitis, can directly lead to male infertility, making timely intervention necessary. Properly caring for the testicles is a concern for many men. It's important not to wait until an illness occurs before giving them attention. Testicle maintenance is crucial for addressing male sexual dysfunction, as any pathological changes or discomfort can affect sperm quality. So, how can men take care of their testicles? Here are some important tips: 1. Avoid sleeping on your side for extended periods Sleeping on your side for a long time can compress the testicles between the legs, leading to testicular torsion. This can obstruct the transportation of nutrients required by the testicles through the spermatic cord. Individuals with a habit of side sleeping should consider improving their habits to prioritize testicular health. 2. Avoid exposing the testicles to high-temperature environments The testicles are highly sensitive to temperature and have a self-regulating mechanism to maintain a comfortable environment. They stay warm in cold weather and cool down in hot weather. The optimal temperature for their well-being is slightly lower than the normal body temperature, so there's no need to keep them excessively warm, even in winter. However, those who sit still for long periods or prefer wearing tight pants should be more cautious, as continued exposure to high temperatures can impair sperm production. 3. Perform regular testicular massages Testicular massages can be simple. Gently hold the testicles with your hands and apply light pressure, repeatedly relaxing them. Repeat this process about 15-20 times each day. If any pain or discomfort is experienced during the massage, it is advisable to seek timely medical examination to be vigilant against testicular inflammation or epididymitis. 4. Pay attention to unfavorable influences in the living environment Polluted places that contain radiation, chemicals, or electromagnetic waves can negatively impact testicular health and sperm production. It's important to be aware of these factors and minimize exposure whenever possible. 5. Avoid blindly taking supplements Excessive intake of supplements, whether medicinal or dietary, can have adverse effects on the body. Some foods, such as fish soup, lamb, and pig trotters, can worsen inflammation in the affected area, aggravating testicular inflammation. If you are planning to conceive and need to take medications or supplements, it is best to do so under the guidance of a doctor. In addition to the aforementioned methods, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the genital area is important. Regular sexual intercourse or masturbation (in moderation) can also benefit penile health. Engaging in regular physical exercise and consuming a balanced diet that includes lean meat, milk, fresh fruits, and vegetables helps maintain overall nutrition. It's crucial to refrain from smoking, excessive drinking, and staying up late, as these habits can be harmful to the body. Monthly self-examinations are recommended. After taking a warm bath or shower, when the scrotum is relaxed, use your fingers to touch the testicles and examine the skin of the external genitalia. If any abnormalities are noticed, seek immediate medical attention and avoid delaying or neglecting proper medical care.
