There was a time, not too long ago, when businesses used a manual system to find out which employees had come in to work. It was perfectly okay for small companies to do that, but when talking about big multinationals with hundreds of employees, working 24-hour shifts, it would be a total disaster.

Advance of Technology

With the arrival of computers and intelligence technology, there are sophisticated systems in place today that incorporate accurate methods to capture data and record the way employees do their jobs. In today’s highly competitive world, the workplace has become a highly secure battleground and guarding against infiltration, leaks, and data stealing is now part of the security setup. In South Africa, just swiping an identity card with all your personal details on a magnetic strip on the back, was all you needed to enter your office. However, with restrictions against illegal entry, biometric time and attendance software is now being used in most organizations; some of the finest control systems currently in the market are supplied by TAS biometrics.

Restrict Entry When Needed

The current time and attendance systems do have all the qualifications necessary to function well, but in organizations that are very careful about their work and on security know that a card can be lost or stolen, and access gained. With biometric time and attendance programs that are supplied by Time Access and Automotive Systems or TAS, you can control not only the attendance, but also restrict unwanted staff from restricted areas. There will be some cards made to override the system, but it will be restricted to dedicated management members. The introduction of biometric data input devices like fingerprint recognition, have sent the old systems of punching in and swiping cards out of business.

Manage Security Safely

For companies that are very paranoid about security, they have gone one step further from biometric time and attendance, with retina scanning software being used to control entry into restricted areas with automatic recording of all entries into different sites, recorded onto a log sheet for further analysis. Fortunately, this technology is not for everyone, and biometric technology supplied by TAS is being used more and more in South Africa to complement security in public areas like airports, hotels, shopping malls, hospitals restaurants, and similar places which require security to keep everyone safe.
