TEACHER ELIGIBILITY TEST

A good teacher is the key to a society that is progressive, that moves forward in every direction holding its moral values. It’s so important to maintain a transparent, fair selection process while recruiting teachers. Because these are the people those are going to shape the future of our society, the future of the generations to come. Speaking of a fair selection process, there are quite a few in use in India at the moment for example, The Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) and Central Teacher's Eligibility Test (CTET). There are more such eligibility tests those are being conducted on a state level for example, The Uttar Pradesh Teacher’s Eligibility Test (UPTET). The CTET is conducted on a national basis by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Recently, CBSE has decided to keep the test in online mode across 22 major cities in India along with the traditional paper pencil mode elsewhere. This move ought to attract more and more aspirants to appear in CTET in the recent future. Last year alone, as many as 7,90,000 candidates had registered for CTET. Out of which, only 14% managed to qualify in the written test. These statistics are staggering to say the least. It just emphasizes the fact that the board has been following some real strict guidelines while selecting the teachers that is a welcome move. CTET is tough so one needs to prepare really well before appearing, with thorough knowledge on his or her field of interest. There are various criteria for one to be eligible to appear in CTET. Most of those include being a graduate or a senior secondary with minimum 50% marks. One can apply or register for this test both online and offline. As far as UPTET is concerned, the eligibility criteria don’t differ much. It has been announced by the U.P Govt. that the minimum educational qualification one needs to have to be able to appear in UPTET-2012, is having 45% marks in graduation level. It has been estimated that as many as 72,825 teachers will be selected this year through UPTET. TET, CTET, UPTET, these are the tests those determine who are the people eligible enough to teach our present and future generation. Obviously the process is tough, demanding. But it’s worth it.
