Blogs were not available until the last decade and only advanced users of the web have known what the term blog means. Today, anyone can have a blog and there are many platforms to choose from. For those who are interested in having a blog, or a website, the next step may be to find a hosting plan.

The advantages of Wordpress over other platforms can be the multitude of themes available, the hosting plan, the server maintenance plan, etc. There are two ways of hosting for Wordpress: integrated and exte
al. Wordpress is not just a simple platform where people can makes posts from time to time, but a complex system that can help you build a website of great diversity. There are so many options, that regular users may not cover more than 10 percent of its utility.

The Advanced Content Management System gives you the possibility of modifying the design without changing the content. There are many reasons for which you can choose Wordpress: affordability, many free options, easiness in using the system, the system is SEO friendly and the multitude of plugins, options and themes available.

Beginners may find the system confusing at first, but once they make their first blog, the second one will be made in no more than 30 minutes. The hosting is free, but for additional options, you may have to pay some money. If exte
al hosting is used, one with a CPanel must be selected. There are some steps required for hosting a blog and using IT consulting for help may not be needed, if the steps are followed accordingly:

1. You must register and find a name for your domain. Some companies offer both: hosting and domain name, under one subscription.

2. The software must be downloaded on your computer in a zip archive and then must be unzipped. Using the latest version can make you avoid issues. For installing the software, new versions of PHP and MySQL are needed.

3. Write your information in the wp-config-sample.php file. The file name will be changed in wp-config.php and opened in a text editor for writing the name of your database. Then you have to log in to the CPanel and create a fresh database in the MySQL section. The config file has to be saved and closed.

4. The files should be uploaded to the server. The operation is not as hard as it may seem, because it is similar to transferring files from one folder or location on a hard disk to another.

5. Install Wordpress. After the upload of the files is done, by writing the address of the file install.php in the adress bar, the installation can proceed.

6. Select your theme design. From the tens of thousands of professional themes, you can have any design you want. Some designs are under a price, but there are so many good themes for free that it may not be worthy to buy one. Free themes can be acquired from the Wordpress site, or from independent websites.

7. You can modify the theme. Even if there are tens of thousands of themes available on the Internet, modifying the installed theme can make it unique.

8. Login to your admin area and enter your admin user and password that you received at the installation. Once you get in the admin area, don't become overwhelmed of the multitude of options available, as they can be learned fast.

9. Setting the theme and updating various settings. After the theme has been chosen, the site is up and running. From this moment you can play with the settings from the admin area and see what each is doing.
