In today’s post, I’m going to discuss the root cause behind the self-sabotaging habits that keep you away from implementing dietary improvements into your life. You’ll be surprised, because it has nothing to do with food…

Have you noticed that calories, fat grams, portion sizes, and endless diet programs are constantly discussed in the media, in doctors’ offices, and among friends and family? People are constantly worried about meeting their nutritional requirements and finding the perfect diet to suit their needs. Meanwhile, it’s emotional eating that really blocks people from implementing dietetic improvements. Emotional eating should be at the forefront of dietary discussions.

From my personal and professional experience, I have seen that lasting and meaningful dietary changes don’t really happen until old, self-sabotaging habits dissolve. And emotional eating is at the core of these self-sabotaging habits. Once you dissolve the emotional roots of the problem, it is to make useful changes. But when you attempt to make dietary changes without paying attention to the underlying issues, your results will be superficial and short-sighted.

In order to begin to understand emotional eating, we must wake up from the social conditioning that we have practically inherited from birth. Social conditioning has become the norm of the fabric of our culture that we are not even aware of it. But what I’d like you to understand is that these norms are intimately connected with the act of emotional eating.

Our social conditioning has made us believe we are something we are not. It has created addictions and attachments that result from self-abandonment in the dream of separation from our ete
al and magnificent being. And this has caused a life of opposition and alienation from Source. We then feel flawed and lacking, which makes us forget we are the cause or everything that transpires into our life.

When we believe we are something less than what we truly are (due to our social conditioning), we try to fill out that inner void with all types of addictions, including emotional eating. Our stress, anxiety, guilt, repressed emotions, blocked creativity, etc., are all symptoms of our social wiring. The way we are living constricts us, limits us, and emotionally poisons us because we’ve forgotten who we truly are.

Some of these addictions and attachments created by our social conditioning are so pervasive that we have turned them into virtues and are part of what is expected of us in our cultural tribe. Many of them we believe are simply the reality of life, but just because they may be all that we remember does not make them highest truth.

The social blueprint that we are asked to accept renders us physically and emotionally handicapped. It does not make life more abundant, more harmonious, or more fertile. It does not create a more life-generating personal and communal experience. But we are told to accept it without question.

In order to free yourself from emotional eating, you have to realize that you are not flawed, that you’ve been trying to thrive within a system that is not life-sustaining. You must fully recognize that the social conditioning has wired you according to its life-deteriorating dictates. And it is often that by trying to make the social blueprint work, we wind up stuffing ourselves with food to temporarily escape from everything that feels wrong about our life experience.

The only way out is in…recognizing and accepting a paradigm of wholeness by waking up from our social conditioning and dissolving all the distortions and illusions that we’ve inherited throughout the course of many generations. Your emotional eating is the cry of your soul, wanting to speak to you, wanting to let you know it is alive and waiting to shine past all the dark illusions of our world…

This is your time to wake up, this is your time to shine and thrive! Are you ready? What is keeping you away from living the life you truly deserve? Can you see the connection between emotional eating and our social conditioning now? I’d love to hear from you, so leave your comments below!

In trust and aliveness,
