Network marketing is a method of reaching new customers for a business or a product using independent personnel in ways that a regular brick and mortar company cannot reach, for whatever reason. These individuals are independent marketing consultants hired by companies, such as those who sell auto or home insurance. These representatives are similar however different to what most of us think in regards to sales people. While most sales individuals who are employed for a company are given a specific route or territory to target, network marketing individuals are free to work just about anywhere the company is located. Being a Network Marketing Representative So, let’s begin with the positives of being an independent network marketing representative. This is a great business plan for those who desire to set their own hours, be their own boss and like to talk with people for a living. If you are one who doesn’t really care to hang around others or want to make big money in a hurry, this is definitely not the opportunity for you. If you put in the hard work, you can be a success, but that will take a lot of effort and hard work. In today’s world, there are so many ways to reach others. We have blogs that are written, sometimes by our friends, social networking, which many do not like to engage in, but will just for the networking connections. Also, traditional email still is a great way to reach out to others. After all, if you have a product to sell, you have to get the word out in some way. Remember, the term IS network marketing — meaning you have to network to in turn market. So, how does one get started in running his or her own individual business from home? It can be a very easy process. There are numerous companies which “hire” their own representatives, such as being an Avon representative. In this case, one is given all the access to the tools they need to be able to run their own business and while every component of the business is conducted online; one still must get the word out and build their business. We will discuss the pitfalls, tax implications, etc., in part 2 of this article on network marketing.
