The phrase 'grow old gracefully' is no longer applicable in our society, as most people now cling onto the notion of eternal youth. This is especially true when it comes to appearance, with an increasing number of people turning to drastic measures, such as botox and face lifts, to reduce those dreaded lines and wrinkles. People who don't want to take this leap or just simply don't have the budget which will stretch this far, tend to opt for anti-wrinkle creams. In-fact, anti-wrinkle creams are now commonplace within most households, particularly where there are females present. The question is, do they really work or is it just another marketing ploy to persuade us to part with our cash? The market is saturated with anti-aging creams which claim to banish wrinkles for ever and give us smooth, youthful looking skin. Some of these can be very expensive, but there are also cheaper options to choose from. Clinical trials have been undertaken which show that anti-wrinkle creams can actually reduce those fine lines and wrinkles. The main ingredients of these creams is moisturisers and water, which will help to protect the skin and help you maintain that fresh looking complexion. A basic moisturising cream also contains ingredients to help replenish damaged skin, but in some cases anti-wrinkles can do a bit more. The reason for this is that most anti-wrinkle creams contain ingredients, such as pentapeptides and copper peptides, which are known to increase the production of collagen. Collagen is an ingredient of anti-wrinkle creams which has an ability to heal wounds, so can help to reduce the signs of lines and wrinkles. In order for any anti-wrinkle creams to work, you have to ensure you take good care of your skin. The sun can be beneficial for your skin, but too much will definitely increase the likelihood of those wrinkles making an appearance, as the sun dehydrates the skin. It is also a good idea to drink plenty of water as this will keep your skin lubricated and your body hydrated. Other habits which will increase lines and wrinkles include smoking, which is actually one of the worst things you can do if you want to keep that youthful look. Prior to going to your bed at night, you should always remove any trace of make-up perfume or fragrance, as this can be another factor which dehydrates the skin and results in wrinkles and spots. If you take these steps and use a good anti-wrinkle cream which is highly rated, you should start to notice some positive results.
