Like our body, our mind also needs food; but this food is little different from the food that our body needs. To be strong, our body needs food items that contain calcium, carbohydrate, iron and different other nutrients. Reading books gives us mental feeds. Books open up windows to the world of unknown. Books calm our brain tissues and also give us a detailed insight into the world happenings. For centuries, books are considered to be a great way of knowing the past and also exploring the future. In ancient India, only the elite people used to get the chance to read and write. But with the evolution of time, the ray of knowledge spread and enlightened every life. The sphere of learning in expending and thus people are getting more involved in reading books. Now we can see teens reading novels even when they are travelling in metro or bus. In the initial years of my school days, my teachers used to almost force us to go to the library, pick one book and to read that. It was never a good place for me and I didn’t find any significance to visit there. But as I grew old, I develop longing towards reading books and gradually turned to be a bookworm. The reading of books in my childhood days helped me lot in my future life. School library always plays a significance role in our academic life. A school is in fact incomplete without a library having a sound stock of books. Apart from helping the students in earning good grades in their academics, school libraries also boost their drive to learn. When kids develop the habit of going to the library in their childhood days, they also start concerning the books in their later educational life. There are host of benefits that a school library offers. These are briefly discussed below:- 1. When students start going to library, they get a chance to interact with other students of the school. The students can also develop a community of learners and can arrange for different activities like debates, discussions and parliamentary sessions in the school. These activities help the students to be a better member of the community in the future time, 2. In the modern day school libraries, students find ample chance to explore the world of technology. students are provided DVDs and CDs that contain many educational resources 3. School library is a house of information. It helps the students to accomplish their projects by offering books concerning a variety of subjects, 4. It is also beneficial to students who belong to the economically backward classes. These students often don’t have enough money to buy books for the purpose of their academics. In the school library, they can collect the academic materials and also can borrow the books for a particular time for reading in their home, 5. For people who need noise free areas, the library is most definitely the place for you. Sometimes it may be a bit noisy but that only happens once in a long while in very few libraries. Education policy has a heavy emphasis on upgrading school facilities and buildings. Library resources and appropriate staffing are equally important if educational outcomes are to be achieved.
