So your the one that has to do the job in the bath room. Kids taking over the house and you never have the room or possibly you've just managed the spend for a new ensuite but have no money left for the basics. Either way, fitting a shower neither be hard or frustrating. The following instruction will give you enough confidence to get up and running.

After you have invested in your shower you will need to be confident that all of the pieces are there. The second thing is you should check the guarantee. The greater number of new showers have a warranty for only two years. Vendors expect that a intensively used shower will survive at the very least 2 years. If the shower is second hand make positive that the shower head is altogether free of any sort of limescale. If it is you ought to spend the extra effort using some white vinegar to the nozzle ends. Failing this, position the head above a steaming kettle as this will guarantee a clean filter for the water. Shower heads are so affordable no-a-days so you may possibly be better of simply buying a completely new head.

When you've examined and wiped clean the shower head the next step is to determine out exactly where you will position it. By far the most common place for a shower surround is in the corner of the cubicle. This is an clear choice specifically if you have a modest or restricted cubicle. The additional gain of having in the corner is that you will not have to worry about the handles preventing access to the cubicle without clipping the shower when getting in.

Once you have identified the place you are planning to bring your new shower's water supply from, it's time to flip off the principal water source at the stopcock. Just in case there is water already in the pipework and to reduce water leakage, you should turn on all the taps to run off any remaining water which is still in the system.

The initial thing you will want to do is get the piping ready. Ahead of sizing the pipes that will eventually provide the water to the shower system, it is crucial to cut off the water source. In order to preserve the pipes, they should be given a waterproof masking and also separating valves should be attached. The plumbing can then be recessed into the wall and plastered over to neaten the over-all look.

Along with the water turned off at the main stopcock and any leftover water purged from the system, you can commence running your pipework to the site of the new shower. You can use both plastic piping or copper mineral piping to run the plumbing to the shower. Vinyl piping is less difficult for the DIY local plumber to work with but you should be cautious to steer clear of leaks in plastic piping by fitting pipe inserts among joints and fit copper mineral fixtures at the last part of the pipework for enhanced trickle reduction. Bear in mind to fit isolating valves at the finish of the pipework as close to to the shower as possible without being intrusive or cosmetically unattractive. Separating valves could very well come in handy if your shower or pipework springs a problem. With an added water shut-off point around your shower you will not need to count as much on the major water stopcock.

To avoid damaging thermostatic shower valves you should ensure that the pipework does not have any dirt or grit in it. Cleanse the pipework through to check this.

Assess exactly where the shower valve will go

Support the valve alongside the wall membrane and examine how much pipework length will be necessary to be sure the new thermostatic valve can fit flush.

Cut the hot and cold water release pipes to the correct size. Once you have confirmed how much pipework is required to fit the thermostatic shower valve you can cut the hot and cold water pipes for the shower using pipe cutters.

Create the holes for the thermostatic valve

Drill down the holes in the wall to fit your thermostatic shower valve. If you are drilling into tiles make certain that your drill bit is suitable to work on tiling. Use a spirit level to fit any bracket or wall fitment flush to the wall to reduce difficulties when fitting the shower valve and to refrain from damaging tiling or plasterwork.

Fit compression olives into each of the water inlets

For extra seapage prevention fit a compression olive and nip it up neatly.

Straighten up the shower valve

Mark up the wall for the shower valve fitting taking care.

Fit the shower riser rail

Review how high you want the shower riser track. Use a spirit level to tag vertically up the wall from the valve location to the elevation you would prefer the shower head to be. If in doubt, for further comparability, stick masking tape to the wall vertically changing the spirit level and take it to the point where the shower head will be. Step back and check that the shower head will be in the correct position using the masking tape as an clue of the shower riser track. As soon as you are convinced that the shower riser track is in the proper position, cut the shower riser track and run the pipework up the riser rail.

Fit the shower head to the riser rail and assess for leakages

Checking Shower Thermostat Works

Ensure that the thermostat kicks in by switching on the hot and cold water taps when checking that the temp of your newly fitted shower remains regular as expected.

Make sure you have all of the instructions at hand and carry out the instruction guide that will have been supplied if new. If the shower is 2nd hand have a look at the model for anything valuable that you can search on Yahoo with. You will need to print this off as you will want to refer to it often throughout the assembly process.

Step 15 – Connections concluded employing the Z Uni-Fit Kit.

Step 16 – Briefly fit the cover, select the cold setting and load the unit with water.

Step 17 – Get rid of cover and insert the pipe entry trims.

Step 18 – Fit the start/stop switch connection in the cover.

Step 19 – Line-up the front cover and fit the best and bottom fixing screws.

Step 20 – Fit the riser kit and 5-mode rub clean showerhead to complete installation.

Finally fit the shower head and base tray. You should at this stage be able to Connect up the main shower control to the pipes that will be delivering the water.
