This feature allows the quick removal of heat that is increased when the converter is with the contact of high voltage. - A feature of the thermal compound:
Another cooling method of a converter is the thermal compound. Its feature is also to transfer heat from the cool plate and the heat sink. It is made with the material that allows heat in the unit.
- Presence of liquid:
You can see the presence of a liquid with the cold plate. It is basically called cool liquid. Manufacturers build this liquid with waters, but its quality can be increased if they build this with the half water and half glycol. With this liquid you can keep the converter in a steady temperature that is will be efficient for the application. It is a great solution for converter where you cannot have the feature of fans and heat sink.
So it is said that you can use this liquid feature instead of fans and heat sink. The converters which use this feature is basically used in aircraft applications. This type of converter comes up in heavyweight and large size as oppose to AC DC Power Converters. This converter also used in ground vehicles. This is the most efficient feature and you may get it at a minimum price with less complexity. Engineers have developed more materials that are required to manufacture the converter for a better design for power supply.
- A feature of forcing air:
Forced air is another feature of the upgraded version of the boost converter. Its role is to natural air flow for the sake of thermal compound. In this technique, engineers have designed one or more fans into this converter to support the cooling method and for the safety of the application. This design is required to cool the high voltage power supply. These air cooling fans add efficiency of the converter. It is noted that fans reduce the heat of internal high power and contribute the heat to overall cooling units. This feature provides longevity and effectiveness of power supply.
- A feature of natural air:
Fans are technically called the cooling method. This feature transfers heat to the cooling units. In any case, if the cooing unit stops to work, the natural airflow is needed at the time of power supply. This design has been placed for assisting in an emergency situation. It is the least expensive option and it produces the lack of air in the converter. Not only this, if the converter needs additional air, this natural air flow for cooing is needed for the safe operation of the power supply.
Each of the above features has unique techniques and solutions to the converter for various voltage of power supply. In most cases, the cooling system is specified by the customer. With the request of customers, engineers design the converter’s cooling unit.
