Some people have taken the butter out of the fridge and replaced it with the so called low fat margarine. This is possibly the worse thing you could do for your health. Here is why! Why eat butter?rnButter is full of VITAMINS! It is a rich source of easily absorbed vit A, D, E and K which are often lacking in the modern diet. Butter is rich in MINERALS! It has important trace minerals including manganese, chromium, zinc, copper and selenium (a power antioxidant) Butter is also an excellent source of iodine (great for the thyroid) Butter contains GREAT FATTY ACIDS! These support immune function, boost metabolism, and have anti-microbial properties (they fight against pathogenic microorganisms in the intestinal tract. Butter also contains the perfect balance of Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio. Some of the fatty acids contained in butter are important for brain function and skin health Butter that has come from grass fed cows has high levels of CLA (Conjugated linoleic acid)! These have shown to be effective in warding off cancer and helping the body build lean muscle tissue rather than store fat.rnButter has GOOD CHOLESTEROL! Despite all the misinformation you have heard, cholesterol is hugely important and essential in maintaining intestinal health and for brain and nervous system development LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE WITH BUTTER! Contrary to popular belief, butter does not cause HEART DISEASE! In a matter of fact it is quite the opposite. A medical research council survey showed that men eating butter ran half the risk of developing heart disease as those using margarine (Nutrition Week 3/22/91, 21:12).rnEat butter to prevent CANCER! The short and medium chain fatty acids in butter have very strong anti-tumor effects.rnEat butter to prevent ARTHRITIS! Vit K in grassfed butter protects against calcification of the joints as well as hardening of the arteries. Eat butter to prevent OSTEOPOROSIS! Vit A, D and K found in butter are essential for proper absorption of calcium and phosphorus and therefore leading to healthy teeth and strong bones. Eat butter to have good THYROID HEALTH! Butter is a good source of iodine in a highly absorbable form. Not to mention Vit A which is also essential for thyroid gland function.rnEat butter for GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT! Iodine and VIT A, D and K ensures optimal growth of children. Low fat diets have been linked to underdevelopment of children however we are recommended to feed our children low fat options.rnEat butter to prevent ASTHMA! Saturated fats in butter are critical to lung function and protect against asthma (Thorax, Jul 2003) Eat butter for FERTILITY! Many nutrients in butter are needed for fertility and normal reproductionrnWhy NOT to eat Margarine! TRANSFATS! These unnatural fats in margarine are formed during the process of partial hydrogenation. A process which turns liquid vegetable oil into a solid fat. Consumption of transfats have been shown to lead to heart disease, cancer, bone problems, hormonal imbalances, skin diseases, infertility, low birth weight, growth problems and learning difficulties in children. Recently the US government panel of scientist determined that man made transfats are unsafe at ANY level! FREE RADICALS! High temperature industrial processing leads to free radicals and other toxic breakdown products. They contribute to heart disease and cancer SYNTHETIC VITAMINS! Margarine has added vitamin A as it has been stripped out during the heating process. The synthetic Vit A can not be processed by the body and has the opposite detrimental effect as to what it should have in its natural form. EMULSIFIERS AND PRESERVATIVES! Numerous additives are added to margarine despite there health implicationsrnHEXANE AND OTHER SOLVENTS! Used in the extraction process, these industrial chemicals can have a toxic effect on the body BLEACH! The natural colour of partially hydrogenated oil is grey so manufactures bleach it to make it white. Then yellow colouring is added to make it look more like butter!rnARTIFICIAL COLOURS! These help mask the horrible taste and odor of partially hydrogenated oils and give a fake butter taste SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE! This highly processed powder is added to ‘low trans fats’ spreads to give them body. Unfortunately soy protein isolate can contribute to thyroid dysfunction, digestive disorders and many many other health problemsrnTo take advantage of all the great health benefits butter has to offer, make sure you seek out raw butter from grass fed cows. Butter is fantastic to cook with and to melt over hot vegetables. So, if you were to learn only one thing from this article, it would be … eat butter and avoid margarine at all costs!!!!
