Too many people enter the network marketing business blinded by the long term benefits it can bring - yes, they are great and wonderful but do you know how you are going to get there?nnFocusing on the money is a potentially business damaging aspect for many new recruits who really haven't even worked out how they're going to attract their first lead. nnNetwork marketers entering the world of inter-network marketing for the first time are hearing what a tremendous vehicle it is for business growth but just blindly jumping on board without some sort of a business is going to achieve the same result as someone using the hit and miss tactic of offline networking.nnAre you thinking about your business the wrong way? That is, are you thinking big without thinking small as well. nnIf a new recruit comes into your business and tells you they're going to make $10,000 a month in their first three months, how would you react? Many would simply get excited and think they've landed that rare breed of business builder who's going to explode their downline.nnThe truth is, most of these people don't even get off the home plate. They get struck out of the business in the first three weeks because most of the time they spend focussing too much on their long term goal of $10,000 a month and 10,000 new recruits in their business without having even worked out how to get that first lead.nnA good leader will immediately ask "Well, how are you going to achieve this? What steps are you going to take to get to this goal?nnYou see, the long term goal is great and if you want it you can achieve it, but if you think it's just going to happen without an action plan involving a series of baby steps, then you are just dealing with a lottery or quick fix mindset.nnThe problem with this high flying thinking is the immediate goal is not a tangible one. You need to break it down to short term achievable goals, daily if necessary. In the network marketing business, whether you're working it offline or online, without a set of tangible short term goals to bridge that long gap to the ultimate long term goal, you'll struggle, probably fail.nnBefore you can focus on the money, figure out how to get that first lead, then that first recruit and following that, your first dollar.
