The Correlation to What You Consume and How You Feel
Do you ever feel “out of sorts?” This is when, for all outward appearances, nothing is wrong, but you just feel like something is off. Maybe you feel anxiety one moment, depression the next.
You might feel down for no apparent reason. It could be the feeling of wanting to go back to bed and pull the covers over your head.
This is not uncommon and unfortunately, becoming more frequent for many people of all ages and backgrounds.
Consider this, how you feel is directly related to what you consume. Not only what you eat, but what you read, watch and listen to.
To be your best, you must consume your best. It’s really that simple.
What you watch
According to a study by the University of Montreal, watching television affects a child’s health and athletic ability. The more television a child watches, even in the first years of life, the more likely he or she is to be obese and less muscularly fit.
Moving into adolescence and adulthood, the viewing habits one develops directly impacts their health.
With the onslaught of platforms that allow for binge watching, the combination of binge watching, and binge eating, can go hand in hand.
It’s essential to be aware of this trend in order to combat the negative impact watching too much television can have.
In moderation, a bit of television is not harmful. But when you consider the average amount of time people watch television is over five hours a day, imagine what you could do with an extra five hours a day.
According to a Nielsen report, United States adults are watching five hours and four minutes of television per day on average (35.5 h/week, slightly more than 77 days per year).
What you read
As a society, our reading patterns have changed…dramatically. In the past, people put time aside for leisure reading. Today, many people read tweets about the latest happenings in Hollywood, spending countless hours consuming mindless content.
Along with the mindless content can come mindless food consumption.
A simple change in your awareness of what you are reading can have a huge impact on your health. Rather than immediately hopping on social media to begin an endless stream of reading insignificant content, pay attention to what you are reading throughout your day. Notice if there is a correlation between what you are mindlessly reading and mindlessly eating.
Which brings me to the next area of consumption…
What you eat
Ask most people what they eat on any given day and they will likely underestimate just how much they put in their mouth. As with what they watch and read, most people are not fully aware of how much they are consuming. Nor are they aware of how certain foods make them feel.
Try this; for one week, log every bit of food and drink you consume. Notice when you eat, what you eat and how much you eat.

Also notice how you feel after specific types of foods you consume. Chances are you are eating foods that are not in your best interest for optimal health. Whether it be eating too much processed sugars, packaged foods, fast foods, or a late-night handful of chips, all of these choices contribute to your state of mind.
Muscle Testing
One way to determine what is best for you to consume is to do what is referred to as muscle testing. Simply put, muscle testing allows you to know exactly what foods are best for your body. Not only can you muscle test your foods, you can muscle test what you watch and read.
You will be amazed at what your subconscious mind guides you to through muscle testing. To learn more on how to do this, read my post called, Muscle Testing Taps into the Subconscious

Take Control
Many people have resigned themselves to the fact that feeling lethargic, mildly depressed, and filled with all sorts of aches and pains is to be expected. Yet, with the right awareness to the correlation of what you consume and what happens in your body, you can live a more vibrant, energized and focused life.
However, it does take commitment and the willingness to let go of unconscious consumption with what you watch, read and eat.
The more willing you are to take control of your health, the higher quality of life you are bound to have.
