There is an increasing amount of bad PR aimed at the new mobile phone recycling companies over the last month or so. It seems lots of people have attempted to exchange their phones for cash , however, people found the money was deposited into their bank or the cheque arrived people noticed they have been paid the non-working rate as opposed to the premium working rate. This is something that you need to avoid if you want to maximize the true value of your mobile the following few paragraphs will help you in doing this: Don't attempt to pass off your damaged mobile as working Recycling companies test your mobile phone handset, a broken display or a phone that wont turn on is easy to spot and only takes a few seconds, however, some underlying issues are much less obvious. There are some heard tails of people getting paid the premium working rate when sending in a phone that has a broken mic or speaker, however, these are the exception not the rule and the testing of these faculties is becoming more and more efficient, quick and automated. Even if your mobile handset has a less than obvious fault then it will most likely be picked up on. If your handset is not working you are better off been honest in advance to ensure the transaction is processed quickly and effectively. Minor software/hardware faults can sometimes slip through the net but if you choose to go down this road then you will need to be prepared for the repercussions which could mean you have to shell out for the return of the handset if you are unable to come to some agreement. Wear and tear is expected When you are offered a price it has wear and tear factored into it, handsets are expected to have been put to substantial use. Lots of people hang onto a mobile phone for 5-6 years, some people are really heavy users whereas others only have their phones for use in emergencies. Worn out keys, chips, scratches and small dents are all acceptable (and really expected). The best way to decide if a phone is subject to wear and tear or actually classed as damaged is to ask yourself if the handset is mealy damaged cosmetically or if there is any actual damage. The charger Many recycling companies ask for the charger with the handset , even if this is also broke . Youll have to double check with the company you select.
