Yes, meeting Richard Brandon was on my Bucket List!rnTo meet him was an absolute mission, I must say. Richard Branson is well, Richard Branson. To us entrepreneurs, he is a ‘business rockstar’…or is that just me? Actually no, it couldn’t be me, because (like me) everyone who I was at the event with wanted to meet him as well.rnBack in 2010, Sir Richard shared a stage with Anthony Robbins in Sydney, Australia. I bought a Diamond Level, Access All Areas, Catered Lunch, Private Room (with another 100 people!), Right Next To The Stage-level ticket. This ticket was not cheap. It cost me an arm and a leg! Luckily, I own a few businesses. Therefore, I can claim it on tax! This IS one of the BIG advantages to owning a business. rnAnyway, after Sir Richard was interviewed on stage he hosted a Virgin Party. No, it’s not what you think!!! Virgin Airlines sponsored the party. There was heaps of great food and classy cocktails served by Virgin Air Hostesses. I was in heaven!rnAs I said, meeting Richard Branson was on my Bucket List and at the risk of sounding like a stalker; I had to get a photo. Above and below are the 2 photos that I took on the night with the help of my partner-in-crime and new friend, Pete. Together, we worked the room to our advantage by reading the waves of crowds and grabbing ‘our moment’ to snap these photos. He got one and I got one. We literally had to throw the camera over the heads of other people to each other to get these shots. As you can see, it was packed!rnHey, it may have only been a 7.5 second encounter, but I shook his hand, talked to him and he answered! Here’s what happened…rnI said, “I think you’re an absolute inspiration Richard. Your book (Business Stripped Bare) was great & I love what you’re doing with ‘The Elders’.rnHe said, “Thanks Travis (I had a massive name tag on my chest that said ‘Travis’)…the project is going really well & thanks a lot for coming today.”rnWho do you want to meet in your life-time? Who is your “Rockstar”? The point is that meeting them is just cool, I think. Meeting them is important to you for personal reasons, no more, no less.rnIt may be a mission to do so but it is worth it in the end, especially if you get a photo with them. I wanted to meet Richard Branson because of what he has done and because of his inspirational work that he continues to do.rnStart thinking, better yet, start writing the names of the people who you want to meet in your life. You may be surprised at just how accessible they become once you write their names down on your Bucket List.
