Is poster printing considered as a form of art and science? Well, a creative visual technique is needed to make your printed posters look attractive. It takes an artistic skill to design and conceptualize the poster material. In the same manner, there are scientific aspects that need to be considered when producing posters such as the societal context, relevance of the poster, and its psychological impact. Indeed, poster printing is a form of both art and science.

Aside from the said characteristics of the printed posters, you also need to identify what layout is effective in communicating with your potential customers. The four types of layouts for printed posters that are being used in the advertising industry nowadays include the Wanted Poster, Framing Poster, Streamer Poster, and Column/Row Poster.

Wanted Poster
The Wanted Poster is considered to be the one of the best layouts for printed posters. Evidently, most posters’ designs nowadays have been patterned after it. Its design starts with a title on top of the printed poster; the centre is filled with the main image, and the information can be found at the bottom part. Its design is also readable and easily noticeable, making it the best layout. Its header immediately draws the public’s attention. It apparently shouts the word “Wanted” to the reader and because of curiosity; the reader will then look at the middle part of the printed poster and later read on the rest of information. The printed poster then has fulfilled its purpose.

Streamer Poster
The Streamer Poster puts all the important business information on its centre column; of which includes the title and other supporting information. This design allows the reader to focus on all the business information in the printed poster. Its concept is based on human instincts that a man or a woman will always look upwards or downwards when looking at something. Moreover, its text details keep the audience’s attention.

Framing Poster
The Framing Poster utilizes a design that frames the pictures and text details in the middle. The images include plants, borders, and persons. It helps the reader focus on the image or text details on the centre of the poster. Basically, this kind of layout highlights the middle part of the poster.

Column/row Poster
Last but not the least, the Column/Row Poster is an informative type of layout. It drives the audience to scientific and academic awareness. It is best used if you want to place a lot of information in your poster. The images and text details are arranged into columns and rows, thus, providing the public an easy means of reading.
