We are currently living in a world where everything is going fast. Most of the time, everything is happening way too fast to be able to process what’s going on in your surroundings. This fast life comes with a huge amount of thoughts invading the mind, thus creating stress and anxiety. To counter that, new type of therapies have been developed. The most known ones are meditation such as meditation in Brick and psychology such as psychologist in Brick. However, in the last few years, a new type of therapy has been born that combines both meditation and psychology : it is named mindfulness.
- What is mindfulness
The goal of mindfulness is to pay attention in the present moment on purpose and without any judgment. More than anything, mindfulness is a state of being where the mind and body are in the same place at the same time. As such, the important factor is to not pay attention to the past nor the future but, on the opposite, be focused on where you are right now and what you are doing in the present moment. Mindfulness is based on the fact that, most of the time, during a normal day, most of the people will live their life like a routine, like they are on autopilot all day without really paying attention to what is really happening around them. With mindfulness, one will be able to notice more his/her own actions and surroundings. By being more aware of yourself, you will be able to develop more intention towards your actions. Mindfulness is a combination of meditation, such as meditation in Brick and psychology, such as psychologist in Brick.
- Purpose of practicing mindfulness
Generally speaking, mindfulness is a tool allowing us to be more attentive to others, thus helping is connect with them and ourselves in the process. Additionally, it can help in finding more balance on a daily basis and react productively at any time, even in a stressful situation. As your stress level is decreasing, thanks to mindfulness, it will also reduce the risk of depression and open your mind to many other opportunities in life. With mindfulness, you will be able to regulate your emotions as well as your ability to relax. By having a clearer mind about yourself, you will also be able to open yourself to others, thus increasing your compassion towards your surroundings.
- Seven attitudes of mindfulness
- Letting go : having the ability to detach yourself from issues that seemed to overwhelm your mind and prevent you from living the present moment.
- Non-judging : developing a caring state of mind towards yourself and others by noticing when you start to be judgmental.
- Acceptance : being able to accept how things are at the moment even if it’s hard sometimes without trying to change or deny them.
- Beginner’s mind : one of the hardest past of mindfulness is to realize that you don’t need to know all the answers. You just need to be open to the world and being receptive to new possibilities.
- Patience : mindfulness will teach you the importance of taking your time before any actions or important decisions. Letting things unfold at their own pace will help you more than rushing into things.
- Non-striving : on the same note as the patience attitude, non-striving means not forcing any results to happen and letting everything happen in their own time.
- Trust : most of all, mindfulness will try to help you believe in yourself and trusting yourself. Thanks to that, you will be able to take responsibility for your actions if needed.
