Trash bins are often labeled with "no cigarette butts allowed" for the obvious reason that even a single lit cigarette butt is enough to cause irreparable damage. So smokers have no choice but to go outside during their cigarette breaks. But tell me, have you ever seen a smoker bring their own ashtrays along during their break? Wouldn't that be awkward? They just stomp the remaining butt on sidewalks and alleys as this seems to be the easiest way to avoid a fire. At least they thought of preventing fire. But what about the trash left behind after the cigarette is put out? rnCigarette smoking has been tagged by many as a nasty habit; from the smell, the smoke, the act, the effects and even how smokers dispose their butts. I know this is a biased opinion, but how does one who knowingly harms themselves by smoking cigarettes care about making the responsible decision of properly discarding their cigarette after it is consumed? rnIf only smoking could be equated as wasting money, time and life away. But no! There's more to that. It also means endangering your companion, your family, whole community and even the environment. When you smoke, there is always second hand smoke which is almost as deadly as the smoke that is directly inhaled from cigarettes by the smoker. How wrong would that be to give an innocent person a disease by simply puffing by their side? And do you know that there are always fine particles of ash left behind on a smokers clothing every time a Cigarette is consumed? So when you come home and embrace your kids, wouldn't that be cruel letting them inhale ashes of your vice? Worst thing is, you poison the entire environment with the byproduct of smoking. Maybe you won't see it happening in an instant; but, these butts could increase the risk for floods as it may contribute and join the accumulation of garbage on the streets blocking the drainage system. rnTo sum it up in one word, that would be POLLUTION! Yes! Cigarette smoking pollutes not only the air, but waterways and environments as well. Just think about how many smokers lite up each day. Then think about how many times a day a smoker will lite up? 30% of the total population of Americans are smokers. Other developing countries have much higher percentages. You can imagine how all the toxic chemicals rise up and mix up in the atmosphere each and every day. Do you also have an idea of how long a single cigarette butt decomposes? It's approximately 25 - 30 years since most manufactures' cigarette filters are made from cellulose acetate which is not biodegradable. So, the typical cigarette has many years to persist in the earths many environments rnFortunately, however, a smoking alternative device known as an Electronic Cigarette has been introduced into the market. This innovative design is paving the way to address these decade-long environmental concerns including the billions in cost for cleaning up these litters. rnOne electronic cigarette could minimize the packs of cigarette butts scattered on our coasts, our cities, our parks and the hundreds of other environmental settings. If a large percentage of smokers switch to electronic cigarettes, that would equate to reducing tons and tons of cigarette butts adding up. rnElectronic cigarettes are also considered as water vapor cigarettes. Instead of emitting toxic chemicals into the atmosphere, a vapor composed of propylene glycol, flouring and water creates a seemingly realistic tobacco smoke simulation. Thus, it causes no more pollution but conservation of our air. Cleaner air consequently means a healthier lifestyle for everyone. That, I believe, is the most crucial and important factor for consideration. rnAside from causing no pollution, electronic cigarettes also present no risk for causing fires since no flame is needed to ignite the electronic cigarette. There is no combustion happening when the electronic cigarette is used. So, if accepted on a mass scale by the smoking population, there will be a dramatic decline in forest fires. rnSince the electronic cigarette is made of recyclable materials, the electronic cigarette can be recycled once it become obsolete. Because the electronic cigarette presents the opportunity to be recycled, there would be a dramatic difference in environmental impacts from waste left behind after cigarettes are consumed.

Movement is one of the most honest forms of self-connection. The body never lies. It holds stress, records emotion, and reveals when something feels off.
