We have over ten years experience tutoring and teaching our daughter with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Below is some of the materials we use that we believe were most successful in their learning and development. These methods can be used with any child with or without an autism spectrum disorder, pervasive developmental disorder or special needs. Teaching Aid 1 - Creating a therapy room rnInitially what we were going was the SON RISE program. Liz went to America for the Institute of options and made a two-week course on how to deal with a child with autism, the methods for working with and mentoring a child with autism and create a therapy room of a guardian for a child with autism I Special Needs. The course is not just for parents of children with autism, but also for children with learning disabilities, pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) and children with special needs in general. The course also focuses heavily on how to treat an emotional level with the fact that your child has an intellectual disability, and there is ongoing support, if desired. So coming home again Liz we have created a therapy room. We used a spare bedroom and painted in bright colors.
