The Fourth Eye: Eye of the Universer
Byrn Lisa Raphael
The third eye is well known to seekers of truth and knowledge. The third eye, located between the eyebrows, is associated with the sixth sense, intuition, gut feeling. The third eye enhances our ability to tune in to the spiritual.
If the third eye enhances our sixth sense and helps connect us to the spiritual, what, then, is the fourth eye?
Human consciousness consists of several overlapping bodies of consciousness. Our physical body, our blood, bones, organs, nervous system, is the container and carries the imprints of the other consciousness bodies. Our physical body stores memory of all the events that have impacted it. We also have an emotional body that carries consciousness of feeling events, a mental body that carries consciousness of thoughts and beliefs, and an etheric or spiritual body that connects us to the world of spirit. These four interrelated but separate aspects of human consciousness are described in different ways in spiritual teachings and texts. In addition to these, there is a fifth dimension of human consciousness, the fourth eye, the eye of the aura. The fourth eye is the pure consciousness of the Creation Itself, the All That Is. We access to the fourth eye, which is outside of the body, through the third eye.
The main function of the fourth eye is help us see beyond polarities. As long as our consciousness is rooted in our material bodies and experience, we seem compelled to see things as black and white, good or bad, productive or counter-productive. Our lives are inundated with the judgments and distinctions that are at the root of all prejudice and separation. In order to come into oneness with God, with YHWH, with the Creation Itself, we need to see BEYOND the polarities, BEYOND the separation.
Seeing PAST separation is not the same as seeing BEYOND separation.
When I am seeing PAST separation, I notice the differences but deny, repress or consciously overlook them. Many white folks, for example, consider themselves
color blind. But the moment we notice another's skin color, we are separating ourselves into the "like me" and "not like me" framework. As well-intentioned, spiritually aware folks we may see PAST the differences and factor them out in our interactions, but they are still, in their absence, part of the framework of our relationship to the other.
When I see BEYOND separation, I am viewing the other as a whole person through the eyes of another whole person : I am literally seeing the other the way God sees us: unconditionally. With the fourth eye, separation based on material differences does not exist, because the fourth eye does not see them. In the “I” of the universe, there is no separation. Separation is a characteristic of material existence. It is not characteristic of pure consciousness, pure beingness, infinite love, the essence of All That Is.
Living a material existence while looking through the eye of God can be an awesome experience. The Fourth Eye: A Spiritual Primer, details how our perspective on everything changes when we open our fourth eye. With the fourth eye we understand that both positive and negative emotions and part of a larger plan and purpose. With the fourth eye we can see the role that life on other planets and in other galaxies play in the evolution of consciousness.
And that the I Am That I Am, the All That Is, is Itself constantly becoming ----
