Goa. Ah! Just the name of this beautiful sunshine state is enough to make one feel a gentle cool breeze blow across their face. Goa is a place where lush green fields, clean sandy beaches, warm and friendly people, and a crystal clean, emerald green ocean coexist with hundreds of year of history and culture.rnOver the years, Goa has emerged, and rightly so, as a preferred tourist destination for people across the country and beyond. While most North Indians head to beach resorts in Goa to escape the peak of winter, few prefer Goa in its monsoon glory. The Goa of monsoon is so uniquely amazing; words fail to capture what the heart experiences there.rnIf you have never considered Goa in monsoon, it’s time you should. You’ll find beaches with absolutely no one around, the greens will be extra green and shinier, emanating a heavenly yet earthy smell. The waterfalls swelling with swiftly flowing water. The freshness of nature will be indescribable.rnNot just the travelling expenses, but the hotels in Goa are also quite reasonable at this time of the year. The tariffs are almost half of what you can expect in peak seasons; therefore, be it hotels in south Goa or hotels in North Goa, getting a great hotel room with ample amenities in monsoon is not a big deal at all, literally!rnWhile you’re at Goa in monsoon, don’t forget to avail of the cheap stay and other activities like water sports etc, which may cost you a lot in peak seasons. Enjoy the many fetes and festivities of monsoon-time Goa, like fertility feast of Sao Joao, festival of St Peter or the well-known Bonderam Festival. The fun of visiting Goa’s historic places, its renowned churches, its many by-lanes, and the colourful homes is also multiplied when the rainy season is unfolding its magic.rnNot to mention, the famed rented scooters of Goa! Rent a scooter at off-season costs and relish the indefinable experience of riding a scooter in Goa’s narrow, idyllic alleyways in the rains, with coconut trees and greenery lining the sides... bliss!rnWait a second, how can we forget the food? Goa is famous for his soul-stirring, mouth-watering delicacies. One bite of Goa’s freshest monsoon fish, dipped in sumptuous Goan coconut curry and you may become its fan for life (while the weather magically enhances the flavours!). When you’re stomach is full and your heart content with Goan food, you can head to any of Goa's famous wildlife sanctuaries like Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, The Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary, Mollem National Park or Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary and witness nature at its best.rnIf you’ve seen the recent blockbuster Chennai Express, you must be well aware of the picturesque Dudhsagar Falls. When you’re headed to Goa, you can’t leave out Dudhsagar Falls from your itinerary; especially in the monsoon, when the waterfall can be seen in its finest form. Witnessing the powerful gush in person is an overwhelming experience. The place can be reached easily by road or train. And if you’re the adventure kind, a little bit of trekking to reach the spot cannot be ruled out for a wholesome treat to the senses.
