First of all, although it seems like supermarkets are offering us an increasing amount of foods which are supposedly low in fat, if you were to read the fine print, they are actually still fully loaded with sugars! Even though fats and sugars are not the same thing, sugars will cause you to gain weight as well. Excess sugar intake will cause a blood sugar level spike, resulting in you accumulating more fats around your body. Therefore, you should avoid processed sugar. These are commonly found in sports drinks and sodas!
Not all fats are necessarily bad for your health and fat loss goals. Some are good when taken in moderation. An example will be omega-3 fats. These are found in salmon, avocados, nuts and olive oil.
There are some bad fats though. Trans fat and saturated fat are some of the examples. Trans fats are fats which cannot be lost from your body once taken in.
Some of the best foods you can take are foods low in fats and high in protein content. Examples are lean chicken breast meat, fish and beans! Vegetables are awesome too, as they contain high amounts of fiber, filling you up without adding much calories to your daily diet! Some other foods include wholegrain unprocessed cereal like oats. The most important underlying principle is to stick to natural unprocessed foods, and you will soon find yourself losing weight without even trying to!
Temptations are a common part of life. If there are certain triggers which always cause you to overeat or make poor food choices, make sure to avoid these triggers. Have more discipline and you will be able to make the right choices for your health!
If you want to lose weight, it is also very important to lead an active lifestyle and exercise more often. Regular exercise increases your metabolism and maintains your muscle strength and endurance levels. Brisk walking, cycling and swimming are all fun and easy-to-perform exercises you should engage in! Do not worry about bulking up and becoming too buff; this is not possible unless you were to consume very high amounts of protein.
