It is time to take an inventory of how your total body wellness is going. If you don't feel that great about the state your body is in, then you need to set some goals to lose a few pound. Once you have reached your weight loss goal and it is time to keep the weight off and validate the work that you have done. In addition to eating a proper diet and exercising there are certain things we can do to keep our body in working order. There are three things that many Americans do not do, but can start doing in order to have total body wellness: taking a multivitamin, flossing, and drinking water. You may say, "I drink water," but studies show that most people do not drink enough water a day. Taking a good multivitamin will help your body to get the essential vitamins and minerals it needs. Even when we are carefully planning our meals and making sure we get the proper vitamins and minerals we can still be missing some. The B-complex vitamins give us energy, help our skin, hair, and eyes to be healthy, and help the rest of our body work properly. Multivitamins are an affordable way to keep our bodies healthy. Women, especially those who are pregnant or can become pregnant, should take a multivitamin daily. Multivitamins contain folic acid, which helps prevent birth defects. It also lowers the chances of malnutrition for the baby. A surprising low percentage of Americans floss their teeth on a regular basis. Flossing your teeth is an easy way to improve your oral health. It gets in between your teeth where your toothbrush cannot go. Studies have shown that flossing actual adds about two years onto people's life expectancy. If you do not floss, over time bacteria can build up and you can get gingivitis, or gum disease. If left untreated, it can spread the roots of the tooth and can cause the tooth to fall out. The American Dental Association recommends that we floss at least once a day if not after every meal. Another benefit to flossing is that it gets rid of bad breath. The tiny bacteria's that hide out between our teeth cause this bad breath. Drinking water is an important part of having total body wellness. There are many benefits to drinking water. It keeps you hydrated. Especially in the summer time when the temperatures are high, being hydrated can keep you from getting heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Water also helps you lose weight. When you drink water, you are flushing the waste from fat cells out of your body. When people are losing weight they should drink about a gallon of water a day. Studies have shown that by drinking more water you retain less water because you are flushing the toxins from your body that cause you to retain water. Most of the chemical reactions that take place in our bodies require water. If we don't drink enough water, our body cannot function properly. These three little things can change your body's wellness. If you start doing these three things you will see an improvement in your life.
