It pumps blood to all the organs of the body. The blood carries oxygen to all the parts of the body. When the oxygen reaches each part of the body, it functions well. Cardiovascular disease occurs when the heart or the blood vessels are not functioning the way they should. Heart pain and difficulty in breathing are factors that mean that the person has a heart problem. Fainting spells also indicate that a person has a heart problem. Pain and tightness in the chest occurs. There can also be discomfort after eating meals. There can also be fatigue without any explained reason. Palpitation also indicates a heart problem. Heart attacks(In French attaque cardiaque) can be fatal but according to surveys, about 85 percent of them are not. The patient can recover after proper treatment and go on to live a comfortable life for several years. Sometimes the heart makes peculiar sounds which can be heard distinctly by a doctor when he places his stethoscope over the chest. These are referred to as heart murmurs. It occurs when blood flows abnormally through the heart. Functional murmurs are innocent murmurs and can occur due to the defects outside the heart. Pathological murmurs are more dangerous and can occur due to dangerous conditions of the heart like narrowing of the arteries, defective valves, abnormal passages through which blood flows and leaking of valves. A person who is always tired and short of breath may be a victim of congestive heart failure. There are several heart dysfunctions(In French maladie cardio) that trouble people. Cardiomyopathy is a heart muscle disease. The myocardium stops functioning as well as it should. This is the kind of disease that goes unnoticed for a very long time before it gets detected. Heart dysfunctions occur for a variety of reasons. In children, it could be because they are born with the disease. In adults, it may be acquired. It occurs due to age as well. Cardiomyopathy can lead to death. Angina is a heart condition that is characterised by severe pain in the chest region. This happens when the heart is not getting enough blood. When part of the brain does not get enough blood due to a clot or burst blood vessel, it results in a stroke. Heart attack occurs when blood flow to the heart is blocked by a blockage in the arteries or veins.
