Over the years, I’ve talked to thousands of patients about aging. One of the biggest fears they mention is “slipping away.” So many have watched a loved one go from a little confusion to not recognizing even their close family members. It’s a heart-breaking process.
Many problems can cause brain fog… but there’s one you might not suspect. Japanese researchers recently showed that blood sugar problems can lead to long-term mental confusion.
The team discovered that people with problems controlling their blood sugar face about a 70% greater risk of developing cognition trouble.1 That’s just one good reason for getting your blood sugar under control.
Another good reason is protecting your bones.
An international team’s presentation at the latest meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research made this clear. They reviewed the records of nearly 40,000 adults for over 10 years. They found that blood sugar control problems raise your risk of bone breaks by 61%.2
But the new numbers that really put everything into perspective are 6 and 50.
Those are the key numbers from a report published in the New England journal of Medicine. And here’s what they mean…
The researchers looked at 97 studies involving more than 820,000 people. They compared people over 50 whose blood sugar had gone out of control – and led to insulin resistance problems – with those who didn’t have blood sugar trouble.
The people with healthy blood sugar lived, on average, 6 years longer.3 That’s 6 more years with their children and grandchildren… 6 more years of vacations… 6 more years enjoying their favorite activities.
That’s good news for those with healthy blood sugar levels. Now here’s the good news for everyone else…
If your blood sugar is high, the chances are very good you can get it under control. Here are three simple ways to promote healthier blood sugar levels – along with cutting your risk of brain fog, broken bones… or worse.
First, make sure you’re getting enough magnesium. Magnesium helps your body regulate blood sugar levels. You need magnesium to process carbohydrates – sugars and starches – and these are the foods that cause your blood sugar to get out of control.
Spinach, chard, almonds and bananas are all good sources of magnesium.
Herbs can help promote healthy blood sugar levels, too. One of my favorites is Panax ginseng. Ginseng is best known as an adaptogen – an herb that helps your body handle stress. But ginseng does much more.
A number of studies have shown that one of ginseng’s benefits is supporting a drop in blood sugar levels.
In one study, volunteers taking ginseng showed improved performance on a series of mental tests. But their blood sugar levels also dropped within an hour of taking the ginseng.4
Finally, here’s a spice that supports healthy blood sugar levels.
A few years ago, doctors in Pakistan gave this spice to 60 people with serious blood sugar problems. After just 40 days, their subjects showed remarkable improvement.
Their blood sugar levels were up to 29% lower… LDL cholesterol had dropped by as much as 27%… and their triglyceride – blood fat – levels were up to 30% lower.5
The spice wasn’t anything exotic. In fact, you probably have it in your kitchen right now. It’s cinnamon.
A great way to get this spice’s benefits is to add about a half-teaspoon of cinnamon to a half-cup of natural applesauce. It makes a great addition to your breakfast… and could help you avoid the serious consequences of blood sugar trouble.

Dear Health Conscious Friends,
My name is Jaime L, and I am a fitness and nutrition enthusiast and freelance writer. I’m very proud of my decision in 2008 to lose weight, enhance my overall health, and extend my life expectancy by making improved lifestyle changes. I implemented some very simple nutrition and exercise practices into my daily routine, enabling me to lose over 70lbs!
I’ve written various articles and have been featured in blogs and made radio appearances. I have even been in Fitness Magazine! It’s been such a fun and exciting journey.
I have made it my passion to research and learn as much as possible about health and wellness breakthroughs—the things you don’t find in the mainstream media. Did you know, for example, that Maca (found in our Mandro-Rx) has been used to boost endurance and balance hormones or that chlorella and spirulina (ingredients in our Pro-Greens Formula) are beneficial enzymes?
Very recently, I decided to join with Best Life Herbals to help get this great health and longevity information out to everyone possible and because I believe in their concept of offering the finest nutritional supplements money can buy.
With today’s food supply as nutrient-deficient as it is, it’s critically important to supplement your diet to aid your body with every function—from sleep and sexual potency to heart health and overall longevity.
As a regular contributor to Best Life Herbal’s newsletters, my hope is that I can help others find the health and happiness that I have!

Moving Meditation: How Precision-Based Exercise Supports Mental and Emotional Growth
Movement is one of the most honest forms of self-connection. The body never lies. It holds stress, records emotion, and reveals when something feels off. For many, this is why exercise has always been more than fitness; itâs therapy through motion. But not all movement heals. Some styles exhaust, others distract. True healing often begins in the slow, intentional kind, the kind that lets the body lead and the mind follow.rnThatâs where precision-based training, such as re
