The History of Online Bingo Game

Bingo game has rich history and it is this richness in the history of the game that at last brings game to the top notch front. The game of chance was around since the 16th century and was played at different places with some or the other kind of variation. If we take a dive into the history of bingo games, one thing that becomes quite clear here is that modern bingo dates back its origins in Italy where a lottery game similar to Bingo was played. This lottery game was played in Italy in the year 1500s and was quite famous by the name as “Lo Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia”.

Soon the game made an entry into France where its name was modified and replaced by “La Lotto.” It is significant to point here that “La Lotto” was the harbinger of modern day bingo games. “La Lotto” players were given individual cards and every card had three horizontal rows and nine vertical columns, with numbers printed on them, and every bingo card was unique from every other card as far as the numbers were placed on them.

As far as traditional bingo is concerned, the one person, often known as dealer used to draw the numbers from the bag and call the numbers and the players would cover the number on their bingo cards. The player who would cover the line diagonally had the winning call. The complete process of “La Lotto” was pretty simple and easy for bingo players.

Later, the game of Lotto travelled to America where it was introduced before the masses on the large scale. The game was known by Beano by this time. It was when the toy salesman and entrepreneur, Edwin S. Lowe marketed the home version of the game and named it Bingo as he came across one woman accidently calling the name out “Bingo!”
