Railways have been around for quite some time; to be exact they have been around for hundreds of years. However trains have evolved from what they originally were to more modern technology styled carts. The earliest of train stations dates all the way back to 600 BC. This is when men used groves of limestone with carts to transport carts with animals and other items in them. The limestone tracks were used to ensure that nothing was dropped out of the carts. This was just the start of what we now know as the modern railways. The next types of railways begin to be structured in Germany around the mid-1500s. These were the trains that were known as mine rails which were used for mining purposes. These mining carts operated on wooden tracks. They were known back then as wagon ways.
The first railway that looks very much like the railways that we know today was located in Shropshire; it was developed around 1605. This railway was known to carry coal and transport it throughout various places of Europe. After this development, the railways became the main way of transporting a number of heavy goods to many different places throughout the country. It was the best known way to carry heavy goods.
Over the years there were several innovations that were made for the alterations of trains. The wheels were changed on many of the trains. Trains started out with stiff wheels on the carts and later they had flanged wheels. Flanged wheels were known to have a better flexibility and a better overall performance and that is why the change was made. After flanged wheels the next change of trains was the steam powered trains. The first steam train was built in the UL in 1804. This was the train that caused inspiration for a road train which was in the process of being built in 1821. The steam trains were used to transport many passengers as well as several goods across the country for several years. Further developments of the train started between 1960-1970. The main goal for the next best trains was to build trains that had more speed. To build a faster train there was an idea to create a magnetic levitation which is something that would add a type of cushion between the railway cart and the tracks.
Going farther ahead in time the railway transportation kept improving in a number of different ways. Some trains ran off of diesel, while other trains were operated off of electricity. The new changes that continued allowed passengers to be able to travel even further in distance than what they were able too when trains first came available. More railroads were built all across the world shortly after they were started out in Europe. These trains became an alte
ative from air travel or from the use for vehicles. The Eurotunnel was the best development to come along after many years of small improvements. The Eurotunnel ran through a series of tunnels that were unde
eath the sea level; this runs from the UK to France.
