The Insanity of New Year’s Resolutions and Dieting
With the New Year upon us, health clubs are ramping up for the influx of new members, store shelves are being lined with the latest and greatest “diet” pill and countless individuals are ready to set diet and weight loss resolutions they erroneously believe will somehow be different than in the past.
The amount of money being spent on pills, powders and quick fixes is increasing by the year. With the surge of money spent on quick fixes other areas of increase are waistlines, blood pressure, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. There seems to be a direct correlation between increased spending and the decline of health.
Billions of dollars are spent by men and women hoping to drop weight as fast as they can, thinking this will solve their health problems. Yet, they miss one important fact; they didn’t gain the weight, or become unhealthy, in a matter of days and should not buy into the hype that they can lose unrealistic amounts of unhealthy weight in a matter of days thereby solving their health issues.
In the years I’ve been working with clients on various health ailments, I’ve been committed to teaching them how to have healthy weight loss. Weight loss that is more about health than looks.
It's not uncommon for those trying to lose weight to want to lose it very quickly. Yet, there’s plenty of evidence that shows that those who lose weight gradually, at a rate of 1 to 2 pounds a week, are more likely to maintain the weight loss.
Dieting vs Healthy Weight Loss
I am not a proponent of diets. I AM an advocate of healthy eating.
With the various diets on the market, one is left to wonder what the healthiest way is to eat.
At every turn, there is a new diet. Low fat. No fat. High fat, low carbs. No carbs. Lots of lean meat. No meat. And on and on.
The challenge with all the various diets on the market is that one size does not fit all. What might be healthy for you may be very unhealthy for your spouse. What’s healthy for your best friend may produce negative results for you.

We have become a society obsessed with dieting. So much in fact, according to John LaRosa is the President of Marketdata LLC, “The U.S. weight loss market is estimated to be worth $68.2 billion in 2017—a 2.7% gain, and growth should continue into 2018, when the market is expected to post a better gain of 3.2% to $70 billion.”
Intuitive Eating
Enter intuitive eating. Intuitive eating is simply a way to tap into your subconscious to determine what your body is asking for and needing.
It has nothing to do with dieting, willpower, counting calories or food restriction. It has everything to do with honoring what your body is hungry for.
When you eat according to what your body requires, you will in fact, perform at your best. You WILL have more focus. You WILL have more energy. And you WILL have more clarity.
