Through the years, business has always been influenced with changes in technology. In the 18th to the 19th century, the Industrial Revolution, which introduced breakthroughs in agriculture, mining, transportation and other areas, helped implement changes in commerce, some of which survive up to this day. In later years, science kept on coming up with technologies that helped improved communications and, eventually, business activities. At the latter part of the 20th century, it was the Internet that had risen out as the single most influential breakthrough. It had changed the way people communicate and relate with each other. The same medium also showed its versatility in the area of business. As individuals started making transactions online, businesses realized how it can better serve their interests- by increasing sales and consumer base and expanding operations. The influence of the Internet on business can be seen everywhere. A lot of businesses now take advantage of e-commerce facilities by establishing websites that advertise their line-up of products or services to target clientele. Some even went several steps further by jumping into the bandwagon caused by social networking, which is currently very popular among Internet users, for the sole purpose of enhancing marketing and increasing sales. To further enhance the capacity to harness Internet resources for their benefit, entrepreneurs seek professional advice from the likes of local small business marketing specialists. These experts primarily aid businesses to come up with effective online marketing strategies. Some of the strategies that worked well for business include online marketing gimmicks and the selection of specific content for websites. On the other hand, local SEO marketing consultants also play a crucial role in the success of businesses on the Internet. Through search engine optimization (SEO), business websites gained much needed visibility on online search engines such as Yahoo and Google. Visibility on search engines oftentimes resulted to increased web exposure to potential clients, resulting in more clients. As time flies, businesses will continue to demand the services of local small business marketing and SEO experts to boost their presence on the Internet. This is the clearest measure of how deep the Internet’s influence is on commerce. The technology called the Internet has done more than prove itself as a tool for sales and marketing; it has also become a source of business in itself.
