Here, you need to decide whether you want to set the aquaponics system indoors or outdoors. Both locations require different needs. If you put the aquponics system indoors, you need to put it near a window to get some sun during the day. If you put the aquaponics outdoor, you need to make sure that it is protected from the rain.

You can plant tomato and even carrots. All you need to do is use different medium beds. And to make it comfortable for you to harvest the plants later, just adjust the grow bed to be at your waist height. Hence this way, you do not have to bend while harvesting and hurt your back bones.

Water will also ensure the success of your home aquaponics system. Make sure the oxygen supply in the tank is enough for your fish. If you live in a place with cold climate, you need to keep the water warm for the fish by installing a heater.

The last thing to consider in ensuring success in building your aquaponics system is the nutrients needed by the fish. Adding potassium carbonate, iron and calcium carbonate into your fish tank once in awhile would do wonders to your fish.
