"Nothing is more important than that you feel good. When you feel good, you can create not only your ideal physical condition but everything else you desire in life." - Abraham-Hicks Every January for at least twenty years, I have dutifully sat down and written out a list of goals for the new year. Prior to understanding the Law of Attraction and the importance of feeling good and taking inspired action, my list included many things I didn't really want to do but felt I "should" do. I mistakenly believed that BEING good was more important than FEELING good. I'm happy to report that "shoulds," "supposed-to's" and "have-to's have now completely disappeared from my list. These were my Intentions for 2007: Relax. Breathe. Go with the flow. Giggle. Let it be easy. Trust. Follow guidance. Live as a Blended Being. Now this still seems like a pretty good list to me and I even considered just changing the date and using the same list for 2008. Then, while driving yesterday (I get such good ideas while driving), it hit me - I will have a theme for 2008 and NO list. Here's the theme I came up with: 2008 - The Year of Feeling Good and Doing Only What I Want To Do. OK, I can easily defend the Feeling Good part of this theme because I know from Abraham-Hicks that Feeling Good is the most important thing. I know that Feeling Good means my vibration is high, that I'm firmly connected with Source Energy, and that I'm a vibrational match to my desires. It was the second part - Doing Only What I Want to Do - that made me flinch a bit. Even as I wrote those words, I felt odd - sort of like a spoiled child - and I heard disapproving voices protesting, "Hey, what kind of flake are you?" I heard parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, school teachers, Sunday School teachers, neighbors, and even the Good Humor Man warning me: "This is not good, Kate. This is LAZY and IRRESPONSIBLE!!!" Well, it is definitely NOT my desire to be lazy and irresponsible. My sincere desire is to keep my vibration high, tune in to my Emotional Guidance System and take inspired action that FEELS GOOD to me. So I started imagining how it would actually work in real life to give myself permission to do only what I want to do. For example, let's say I had previously agreed to help a friend paint and wallpaper her bedroom; and, when the day arrives, I don't feel like doing it. Would it feel good to cancel? NO! Would it feel better to keep my promise and find ways to line up my Energy? YES! In that case, I could think of lots of reasons why it would feel good to help her. I could imagine everything going smoothly and easily, having lots of fun, and relaxing together with a nice glass of wine at the end of the day. As I considered various scenarios in which I might not want to do something at a particular time, I realized the answer is to go back to the first part of my theme for 2008 - FEEL GOOD. So, what have I learned from this exercise? Once again, I've come back to my mantra: FEELING GOOD is the Most Important Thing. And, when I say I will only do what I want to do, I'm really saying I will only do what FEELS GOOD to me. I'm saying that, if I decide to take some action, I will find a way to move from "I HAVE TO" to "I WANT TO." The key for me is to answer these questions: How does it feel? Which feels better? If it feels better to go ahead and do it, how can I feel good about it? For 2008, then, I will give myself permission to feel good and do only what I want to do. I will remember that when I do what I want to do - when I do what feels good to me - I'm following guidance from Source and everything works out perfectly. I will make 2008 GREAT by reveling in The Magic of Doing Only What Feels Good. And I invite YOU, dear friend, to give yourself permission to feel good, to do what YOU really want to do, and to let 2008 be your most magical year ever!
