Rajasthan is one of the most popular and sought after travel destinations in India. It is frequently visited by domestic and global tourists. People visit Rajasthan to explore the legacy of the royal state. Famous for its historical forts and palaces, Rajasthan truly represent the galore of royalty of the bygone eras. The provinces of Rajasthan were ruled by the kings and queens. Their presence mark many castles and citadels. People from all around the worlds visit Rajasthan to visit the popular forts and palaces.

Forts and palaces are the pride of the Rajasthan. These are the biggest tourist attractions of the royal land. Every royal family of Rajasthan had a flagship fort or palace. Each fort of the place has its own pompous in the history of the land. The popularity and grandeur of the forts and palaces of Rajasthan is not only concentrated in the hearts of Indians rather people of other countries all understand the glory and majesty of these historic construction. Forts in Rajasthan stand on hilltop, in middle of desert and even over the lakes. So, these are global tourist attractions.

One of the most famous forts of the state is Amber Fort. It is a beautiful fort positioned in the outskirt of Jaipur just over 10 km away from the city. This hilltop fort of Rajasthan was built by Raja Man Singh who considered the original inhabitants of the region in 15th century. It is also reputed as Amer fort to locals and it epitomizes the glorious heritage of Rajasthan.

Mehrangarh Fort is another very famous fort of Rajasthan and is situated in Jodhpur. This fort is enclosed by thick walls and the interior boundary is decorated with intricate carving, sprawling courtyards.

Chittorgarh Fort is a spectacular fort which is considered to be one of the grandest and largest fort of India. This marvellous piece of architecture is situated on a hill at a height of 178 meters in the Bhilwara a city in Mewar region of Rajasthan. The majestic Chittorgarh fort stands five hundred feet high and the area covered by the fort is 7 hundreds acres, and was the capital of the Mewar which was previously ruled by the Guhilot, later by Suryavanshi and Sisodias the family of Chattri Rajputs. It reflects the glorious history of Rajputs, bravery and romance.

Mehrangarh Fort is located in Jodhpur and is one of the largest forts of Rajasthan. There are many halls, palaces and galleries in the fort. Sheesh Mahal inside the fort is the major attraction for the tourists.

City Palace in Jaipur is known for its unique style with unique amalgamation of Indian Shilpa Shastra along with Rajput, Mughal and European styles of architecture.

The City Palace in Udaipur is also known as Lake Palace that stands on the eastern bank of Pichola Lake. It reflects fusion of Rajput and Mughal styles of architecture and is considered as largest royal complex of Rajasthan.

Jaisalmer Fort is very unique in itself. It is made of yellow sandstone and stands proudly in the mid of Thar Desert in Jaisalmer city. It is the second oldest fort of Rajasthan and the only fort in India where 4000 people reside within the fort complex.
