Physical reality is not what it appears to be, it is far stranger than many of the physicists and biologists currently appearing in the media have led the general public to believe. It is ironic that many scientists suffer from the complaint that they often level at people outside the official scientific community, which is, that they are not applying the scientific method of impartially examining all the evidence.nnDiscoveries at the cutting edge of quantum physics about the true nature of reality give radical, new and exciting insights into topics that many people may have considered the subject of metaphysical studies rather than the realm of science. Topics such as telepathy and 'remote viewing' are too well researched and documented by renowned physicists such as Hal Puthoff and Russell Targ to be dismissed, and therefore must be incorporated into any scientific explanation of reality expressed by the scientific community.nnA number of eminent physics professors have stated quite clearly that matter, energy and consciousness are the same thing, which would indicate that there cannot be the normally accepted three separate states of mind, body and spirit; a subject area that incorporates a huge section of books in all leading book shops.nnThe concept of matter, energy and consciousness being the same thing led physicist Hal Puthoff to reassess Albert Einstein’s famous equation, E=mc2. Puthoff states that we should think of Einstein’s equation as a recipe for how much energy is required to give the appearance of matter, that is, the appearance of something ‘solid’. This begs the question “is there actually such a thing as a ‘solid’ object”? nnThe new understanding of reality that is emerging provides a much more optimistic and liberating view of life and death that is neither bound up by the blind faith and superstition of religion, nor hindered by short-sighted and pessimistic materialism.nnPeople may be aware that recent estimates by NASA say the universe is made up of 73% dark energy, 23% dark matter and only 4% atomic matter. This means that 96% of the universe is in a form that science has no explanation for at all.nnHowever, since atomic matter is the only type of 'stuff' whose properties science claims to know anything about, the situation for scientists is even more perplexing than that, because they really do not know what the 4% of so-called atomic matter is made of either.nnThis may come as a surprise to many people because they are accustomed to scientists speaking of 'matter' as if they already knew it was some very small and solid 'thing'.nnThe importance of discovering the nature of 'matter' has been clearly demonstrated by the amount of time, effort and money that has been spent on The Large Hadron Collider at Cern laboratories in Switzerland, which was switched on in September 2008.nnSimilarly, although people may be accustomed to scientists speaking of the 'big bang' as the known origin of the universe, they may also be surprised to learn that this is still a theory, not a fact, and there is an increasing number of scientists stating that the current big bang theory does not hold up to scrutiny.nnConsequently, compelling as it may at first seem, the materialist view of reality is simply not supported by the latest evidence, just as religion's view of an all powerful and loving creator god is not supported by evidence.nnThe traditional attitude is that there is only a choice between the 'materialist' view or the 'religionist' view of existence.nnBut this is not the case; it is time for a paradigm shift in thinking.nnThe world that seems so solid and separate from us has been shown by quantum physics to be a trick of the senses, as demonstrated by the physicist John Wheeler, a one-time colleague of Einstein, when he stated “useful as it is under everyday circumstances to say that the world exists ‘out there’ independent of us, that view can no longer be upheld”. nnQuantum physics can also show that the apparent materiality of the world is no more real than a dream-image; that consciousness is a vital element in understanding the true nature of reality.nnThere is much speculation about various levels of consciousness or altered states of consciousness, particularly under such topics as conscious creation, mind over matter and positive thinking.nnHowever, one thing that has become apparent is that consciousness is not a by-product of the brain.nnAs Physicist Dr Jude Currivan has pointed out, "Despite a century of intensive research, science has been unable to produce any convincing evidence that consciousness is merely a product of the neurophysiological process in the brain."n nFurthermore, the findings by physicist Alain Aspect and his colleagues in 1982 and more recently by Dr Nicolas Gisin in 1997 reveal a transcendent reality or hidden domain, which many physicists refer to as the 'quantum vacuum' and ancient Sanskrit philosophy refers to as Akasha.nnThis indicates that the concepts of the nature of reality also apply to a realm beyond what would normally be considered 'physical life'.nnIt is a mistake to think that these concepts just belong in the domain of scientific theory or philosophy, because they have dramatic consequences, which are so far-reaching that they require you to reassess everything you thought you knew about yourself and your world.
