Being efficient in any life sphere heavily depends on our memory. People are mostly mistaken about the concept of memory; furthermore, we tend to think that the memory given from birth is unequal for each individual. In fact, it only depends on how we use it. Boosting your memory is correlative to boosting your efficiency, and anybody can manage to improve his or her memory. 1. How does it work?rnAs we know, the memory is split into long-term and short-term ones. Any fact, which is kept in our mind, goes to the long-term memory only when we constantly process it in the short-term memory. The brain operates with the facts you give it. For example, if you think that you need to memorize something, your will keep in mind that fact that you need to memorize, but you won’t remember what the subject was. A frequent fact goes to the long-term memory, and you don’t need to think of it to keep it in mind anymore. For example, you don’t think of a knife at the moment, but you instantly recall some facts about properties like the sharp blade and a grip. The short-term memory is restricted in its capacity and can only keep approximately five points of information. 2. How to exempt your short-term memory?rnThe five “things” capacity is really tricky. Our brain perceives a fact as an individual one if it’s not linked to any other fact in your processing memory. The trick is to stop memorizing as many facts as you can superficially when learning anything. You will only overload your memory and get stressed out. The key is to understand the links between the facts, make them related to each other in your memory. The related facts are taken as one point of information, which means you have four more cells free. Another great solution is to become more organized. When you are focused on things like forgotten keys and a dull shaving kit, you automatically block one accessible point of information. Being organized is also a generally good habit. 3. How to improve the memory?rnEach time we try to process and memorize a fact, it changes the structure of our brain physically. In fact, new neuron interconnections are built, but they are very weak from the beginning. These connections become stronger when we try to recall the information we have recently obtained. That’s why hurried re-reading before an exam doesn’t work. You need to remember as much info as possible. It should be performed consciously. Consider your memory type. You can retell it to somebody, retell it to yourself, or write it down. Choose the option which works better for you. Passive reading and unconscious information processing mean absolutely nothing for your memory. The next essential point is that the connections weaken with time if we don’t repeat the information. A regular rehearsal is what our memory needs to become intensified. There is no formula to define the frequency of repetitions as it depends on the information you process. You can use tools like the Anki electronic cards or a conventional notebook to make rehearsals more efficient. Finally, look out the information you consume. New neuron connections are being built every day, depending on the information you let into your mind. Eventually, we become what we consume.rnFind more useful tips on http://sohonycbarbers.com/about-soho-barbershop/
