The One Minute Millionaire: A Book Review

The One Minute Millionaire by Mark Victor Hansen and Robert Allen is actually two books in one. The book is half fiction and half non-fiction. It’s a unique idea that I’ve never seen before in print. The right hand pages present a fiction, developing a story from beginning to end. The facing pages are non-fiction as they develop the real world concepts that are being used in the fiction story.nnThe technique seems to work well because both the fiction story and the non-fiction treatment are very absorbing. I found myself re-reading sections as I progressed.nnThe fiction story is about a young mother, Michelle, who must create a million dollars in only ninety days or else lose custody of her two children. She is initially overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenge and she has no idea how to get started. However, she is lucky enough to hear a woman give a presentation about wealth building. She works up the courage to meet the woman, presents her problem, and asks for help. After this breakthrough, Michelle and her new mentor meet others who become part of her new team. The team develops several streams of income to help Michelle solve her problem.nnThe non-fiction side of the story builds upon Robert Allen’s concept that multiple streams of income are necessary in order to create real wealth. The non-fiction pages contain both general and detailed information about the process of developing streams of income. The non-fiction treatment develops in a logical fashion in step with the progression of the fiction story.nnThe numerous concepts that are used to help Michelle create the necessary wealth in the fiction story are one minute concepts. That is, the concepts are simple enough to be described in about a minute. Michelle, her mentor, and her team are wise enough to assemble all of the one minute concepts and put them into action, action that helps Michelle become the one minute millionaire.nnAs in many of their other books, Allen and Hansen use quotations from famous people to open sections of the book. The quotes are interesting in themselves and always contain the core of a larger thought that is developed in the following section.nnThe story and the concepts in the book are supported by numerous materials, including forms and documents and a website. The intent of the book is to both be entertaining and to be instructional. As Allen and Hansen state in the opening pages of the book, "This is our mission: to positively change the world by providing the tools and a path (our system) to those who commit to become Enlightened Millionaires."nn
