A lot of studies pays due attention on the important role that tourism can play in rural development, Alexey Zimarev says there are many potential benefits purely in economic terms. The main benefits purely in economic terms. The main benefits so far mentioned or identified are it creates jobs, increases the income or local tax revenues. And there are many positive effects that tourism can bring to quality of life issues, including a greater “sense of place” for rural residence, an upgrading of local cultural facilities. It also provides an enhancement of regional conservation efforts.

Any form of tourism, featuring rural life, art, culture and heritage in rural areas and benefit the local community economically and socially, while allowing interaction between tourists and locals to a more enriching tourism experience can be described as rural tourism. Agritourism is essentially an activity that takes place in the country. It is multifaceted and can lead to the farm / agro-tourism, cultural tourism, nature tourism, adventure tourism and ecotourism. As against conventional tourism, rural tourism characteristics typical is the experience based on the sparsely settled, it is very natural environment, it is engaged with local and seasonal events and are based on preservation culture, heritage and traditions.

Small villages and farming communities still offer a glimpse of a great story and not only other cultures but our own community of human beings, where the major pieces are still occupied by indigenous peoples have not discovered Twinkies, Cheez Whiz or Max Factor. Rural tourism is a growth industry. It is not only is farm. It's different. Rural tourism includes a variety of activities to suit their interests, skills and experience.

According to Alexey Zimarev there are many categories in rural tourism – heritage tourism, nature- based tourism ecotourism and agro tourism. As aforesaid, these all tourisms can be important sources of jobs for non-metro communities, especially those that are economically under developed. It not only offers jobs and business opportunities to local residents, but it can serve as a vehicle for marketing a place to potential residents and firms.

This is a small village in the trend is so popular that, guess what? It has become a planned activity in many villages throughout the world. So if you want to see reality, rather than dramatic actors is the firelight, to start turning the radar toward unexplored areas.

But even well designed tourism strategies can have potential negative side effects, including higher taxes for local residents, escalating real estate prices, increased sprawl, and a degradation of local natural resources. Therefore benefits deriving from the tourism development must be balanced against potential negative effects. It is possible by undertaking the environmental sustainability efforts. Besides by employing proper planning at the outset of tourism development can also reduces the potential negative side effects.
