It takes a special approach to make that perfect business to business sales pitch. Many have the misconception that it is all about grinding down all the superb features of the products, screaming the brand and effectively backing your client into a corner. Nothing could be further from the truth. Of course you need to know and be passionate about your product and of course you need to know your brand like it is your own family, but the most important winning element is the person standing in front of you. You need to know your client. If you have set pitch that is the same for every audience you come in front of, you are bound to fail. Your pitch needs to have your products and brand at its heart, but it must also speak in terms of the goals of your client audience. To do that you need to have researched your client beforehand. This information is usually very easily found, and the best place to start is on the internet. A company that markets itself well will have its most relevant information on its website. Or you can also look at past contacts with this client and glean information from there. What was stated as a goal in the initial contact with this client? Once you know where they have come from, and what their mission statement is, you will have a good idea of what their goals are and where they are headed. From here you can see how your products can fit into their plan and hence build a pitch to suit that goal. Now you are not just pushing a raw product you are talking about how your product will ultimately meet their goals. It is always useful to create new pitches. If you are perpetually using the same pitch day in day out, you inwardly become bored and you loose the passion that once made good sales. Worst of all it was probably the passion that went 50% in making the sale. By targeting the clients themselves in the pitch you are creating a new challenge, a new dynamic, and keeping yourself on top form. A pitch gone stagnant is no use to anyone. When you are changing your pitch ensure you practice it before the real thing. It can be helpful to stand in front of a mirror and go through your whole presentation. Or even better present to a colleague. Constructive criticism is sometimes hard to take, but it is priceless and invaluable in helping you to move foreword and hone your real skillsrn
