Football is a broad term that is used to refer to a variety of sports that involve kicking the ball to either score or maneuver the ball in the field. The term is applied in regional contexts to mean a certain type of football played popularly in the region. The most common type of football is the association football which is commonly known as soccer. This is universal meaning when the term football is used when referring to the non-geographically based football. Other popular types of football include the American football, which has a very different set up from soccer. Other types include Canadian football, rugby union, and Gaelic football. Some forms of football have taken dominance due to power influence especially during the British Empire during the eighteenth and nineteenth century. In countries like the US, the American football is more popular than soccer. In a normal USsoccer match, you will find less people in the stadium than you expect to find in an American football match. Recently, the US has participated in a number of world cup competitions, a factor which has increased the number of soccer fans in the country. The game has created careers for some people who are talented in that field. French and the US share a passion in the American football. However, the teams can not be compared when it comes to soccer, given that France has been almost to the top of the world soccer championships. The federation is a member of FIFA. It bears the responsibility of governing both professional and amateur association football in the United States. It actually heads the national teams of men, women, Paralympic, the youth and futsal. It is commonly played in schools, where most of the talented people are identified and nurtured. Those willing to advance usually join football clubs which are popular in most nations. The FIFA is responsible for ensuring unique football standards for world soccer games.
