They’ll monitor you 24/7 through your detox to ensure you’re safe. The psychological aspect is just as challenging. Expect to work through your past traumas and relearn how to cope with them. Get Ready for Therapy Just as the movies depict, rehab is full of therapy. But, that therapy isn’t always group sessions where each person admits that they’re alcoholics. Although sometimes it is like that. Most likely, you’ll do quite a bit of one-on-one therapy. There might also be art therapy, animal therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Some facilities even offer medication assisted therapy where your physical dependence on the substance is eased through medications. Through your therapy, you might discover that you also have mental health problems. Medication can be prescribed for these illnesses as well as specific therapies for them. There’s a Light at the End There may be times in rehab where you want to give up. You’ll want to pack your bags and leave. But, where are you leaving to? If you can stick through the discomfort and hard work, you’ll see a light at the end of the tunnel. That light is a new life where you can be yourself and achieve your goals.
