Fashions come and go in interior decoration and home improvement just as much as the retail clothing trade. And one thing is for sure the Sash window is back! The difference is this time you can have the luxury of having it double glazed. A “Sash window” is used almost exclusively to refer to windows where the glazed panels are opened by sliding vertically or horizontally in a style known as a Yorkshire light. They first became popular with architects and designers in the middle of the 19th century. A significant advantage of sash windows is that they provide efficient cooling of interiors during warm weather. Opening both the top and bottom of a sash window by equal amounts allows warm air at the top of the room to escape, thus drawing relatively cool air from outside into the room through the bottom opening. Your sash windows have two parts, an upper and lower, that slide along tracks encased in the window frame. Now with new technology in double glazed windows they may be a single layer of glass (single glazed) or double panes (double glazed windows). The Multiple small panes that make up the glass sections are called lights. The Decorative or functional cross bars are referred to as “muntin bars.” Double glazing and Sash windows Now sash windows can benefit from the modern technology of double glazing and Upvc and still capture the classic stylish appearance of a traditional sliding window. As a double glazed window, the sash not only controls ventilation in the warmer weather it also keeps your family warm and snug in the winter months. The upvc is not only tough but it is durable and an absolute breeze to clean. Also, on that point, you may have some of the newer sash windows that have a tilt feature to allow you to tilt them inward for easy cleaning of the outer side of the glass.rnIf your home has Sash windows, you know how much they can add to your property in terms of character and value. Glass is styled to suit you. Slick to slide, simple to open, secure and energy efficient – these windows really do have it all. Sash Windows just became eco-friendly! Sash window from Safestyle-windows go one step further with their design by making them eco-friendly too. Their top double glazed windows have their own specific glazing made from specialist high performance glass. Optiwhite makes the most of the solar heat transmission from the sun. Together they keep your home snug and warm. In fact Sash double glazed units can reduce heat loss by up to 90%. But the real secret is between the glass panes – because we replace the air with clear Argon gas. This acts as an extra barrier against the cold – and keeps your heat in. So the Sash window is perfect for you and for Mother Nature.
