The heart is the most important organ in the body. All life’s functions depend solely on the proper functioning of the heart. The heart is made up of a number of parts. These parts work together to supply oxygenated blood to the body. While the heart is supplying blood to the body it is simultaneously circulating blood within itself too. Like any other organ in the body the heart to is prone to diseases. Heart diseases are very serious, and should not be handled lightly.
Heart attacks occur when the supply of oxygen and blood to a certain area of the heart muscles are stopped due to a clot in the coronary artery. The medical term for a heart attack is Myocardial Infarction. This blockage further leads to a condition called arrhythmias. Arrhythmias are the term given to the irregular heartbeat of the heart. This irregular heartbeat decreases the pumping function of the heart tremendously causing sudden death. However, a person may survive if he is given medical help within few hours of the occurrence of the attack.
Heart attacks are caused for a number of reasons, however the main reason high cholesterol.
What is cholesterol?
Cholesterol is needed by the body for the proper functioning and good health of the body. Most cells in the human body have a thin layer of cholesterol on the outer most layers. It is the fatty substance that is found in the human tissues, and liver. It is better known as lipid, which is a type of fat. Accumulated fat results in high cholesterol.
It is important to have some amounts of cholesterol in the body. It aids in the proper functioning of the body. The food that we eat gets digested due to the bile that is produced by the cholesterol. The membranes of the cells grow due to cholesterol. It is also needed for the production of important hormones like estrogen and testosterone. But, as the saying goes- too much of anything is never good.
High cholesterol is a very common problem that is found in almost every second person. Sadly, it is a condition that most of us bring upon ourselves. The symptoms for high cholesterol are very subtle, and most people that have it are unaware that they do.
High cholesterol is caused primarily because of the food we eat. Fatty and oily foods add to the levels of cholesterol in the body. People over the age of 35 are usually at the risk of getting high cholesterol. It is very important for you to take certain steps to reduce high cholesterol.
High cholesterol can be brought under check. If you have been diagnosed with high cholesterol then it is time you start taking life more seriously. Your diet plays a huge role in keeping the levels of your cholesterol in check. Start eating healthy foods. Avoid foods that have high levels of cholesterol.
