Part-11: The Mystery of Spiritual Development Stages of Jiva As explained in earlier articles, Jiva(soul) roams in four transmigratory stages and the cause is karmic bonding processes, an automatic system. The cycles of rebirth and death are the cause of universal sadness. The humans consider less sadness to be happiness. Had it been a part of happiness anywhere in the universe, Omniscient Gods, Balbadhra, king of kings, etc. should not have tried for Moksha leaving all the available worldly materials. Having understood the reality of nature, engrossment in self soul is the only tool for enhancement in achieving supersensible happiness. It involves a thinking process about self that possess the knowledge, the perception and the happiness of highest level. It is to be brought in mind that I am different from other substances including the self body and soul has no power of attachment. These thoughts have power to make changes in self and things will automatically govern in getting worldly materials of high level in the next modifications, Here we now cite a spiritual scale to know our existing level of standing that would give us an indication about what kind of enhancement is required. The increase in level of spiritual scale is defined as spiritual development stages. Most Jivas belong to 1st spiritual stage while Omniscient Gods stages are 13th/14th stages (last stage). The relationship of spiritual stage is a function of delusion and psycho physical activities or vibratory activities. This means one has to decrease the impurities bonded in soul. This way one can climb up to 14th stage for Moksha. Truthfully one has to decide his aim first. If the aim is not clear, it will then be almost impossible to reach the level of Moksha (free from birth and death cycles for ever). 2.0 Spiritual development stages; There are fourteen stages which depend on the soul’s attitude of true faith, true knowledge and true conduct. The rate at which one follows mark is representative of spiritual stages. 2.1 Wrong belief – 1st spiritual development stage: This is a fruition of wrong faith which is developed from perception-delusion and conduct-delusion Karmas. In this stage one does not have a liking for the true nature of reality. That means he is far off the natural truth. He has obstinacy, anger, pride, wealth, excessive greediness. One to five sensed non-sentient Jivas have wrong faith. Also, a large part of five sensed sentient Jivas believe in wrong faith. Most Jivas belong to this stage. Out of 148 Karmas, 117 Karmas are bonded. 2.2 Down fall stage - 2nd spiritual development stage: After attaining the right faith, Jiva reaches at the stages of 4rth to 6th.depending on the type of bondages stopped but the fruitation of infinitely bonded passions destroys the right faith that results in formation of impure thoughts within 48 minutes and soul’s downfall starts towards lower stages from 4rth to 2th stages. Here thoughts have become impure to a great extent but did not go in wrong faith or maintains still the right faith. The Jivas of four realm of existence possess these stages. 520 millions of human beings are in these stages through out the universe. In this stage there is bondage of 101 types of Karmas.rn2.3 Mixed stage - 3rd spiritual development stage: In this stage, Jiva has both the mixture of wrong and right faith. Here the soul is less impure in comparison with 2nd stage. One can rise to 4th stage and if however falls, may reach to 1st stage. Jivas belonging to all the realms of existence possess this kind of faith. 1040 millions of human beings come under this category and rest other types are much more than the 2nd stage. 100 types of Karmas are bonded in this stage. 2.4 Vow-less right faith - 4rth spiritual stage: Here Jiva has right faith but it is without self control or self discipline (restraint of passions). In this stage wrong faith has gone but right deluding Karma still persists which results in continuous fruition of passions. The subject of functional senses is not destructible but soul still believes in the right knowledge without any doubt. Therefore the 4rth stage is considered to be the gate to Moksha. This faith can be obtained by Jiva living at any place of the universe, like in Hells, Heavens, middle loka except below four sensed Jiva. 700 millions human beings have this faith. Here 77 type Karmas are bonded in this stage. 2.5 Partial vow conduct - 5th spiritual development stage: The soul after having achieved the right faith, starts observing the purity of right conduct. As the purity increases, the spiritual stages rise. In this stage, the passions of anger, deceit, ego, pride are not completely destroyed but remain partially. He leaves violence of Trus Jiva and is not able to control violence against immobile beings, plant etc fully. House holder can also have this stage. Above this stage a house holder has to become a monk. If any body falls from this stage, may reach to a level of 1-4 stages. This stage can be achieved by human and sub-human. 130 millions human and innumerable number of sub-humans are under this category. Here 67 types Karmas are bonded in this stage. 2.6 Complete vows with some laziness - 6th spiritual stages: There is intense operation of perfect right conduct preventing passions and quassi-passions. Here Jiva controls self mind, words and deeds but there is some laziness in his performance. Here vow veiling anger, pride, illusion and greed are destroyed. Such Jiva takes rebirth hardly 32 times and he then goes to Moksha certainly. If he falls from this stage, may reach to 1-5th stages. He may climb to 7th stage also. This spiritual stage can be achieved by the humans living in action lands. The number of monks is 59398206. Here 63 types Karmas are bonded. 2.7 Full vow with complete carefulness - 7th spiritual stages: There is very mild operation of perfect right conduct preventing passions and quassi passions. Here Jiva controls self mind, words and deeds with carefulness. Here the soul travels between the 6th and 7th stages thousand times. The fall and up thoughts occur. This stage can be achieved from 1st, 4th, 5th or 6th stages. Above this stage, only human can achieve. The number of monks under this category is 29699803. Here 59 types of Karmas are bonded. 2.8 New thoughts activity/Upper high feelings – 8th spiritual stages: After achieving the 7th stage the monk wishes to achieve higher stages through achieving purity. He starts complete meditation (Shukla dhyan). He stops all the outer activities and is engrossed in self meditation. Here the monk tries to destruct the remaining conduct-delusion Karma. This way 58 Karmas are bonded and destroys the celestial life determining karma. 2.9 Advance thought activity – 9th spiritual stage: Here faith remains either destroyer or sub-doer but feelings become better and better, shedding more and more Karmas. In this stage the monk suppresses or destroys the gross parts of delusion karma or passions. What does he in 8th stage, the same is continued but with more fineness. Here, minute anger, pride, illusion and greed remain but laughs, indulgence, in indulgence, sorrow, fear, hatred are destroyed. The feeling of gender is also destroyed. 22 types of karmas are bonded and 36 are destroyed in this stage. 2.10 Subtle greed - 10th spiritual stage: Here the soul is nearly pure and possesses the impurities of fine level. Here the monk destroys 5 Karmas and remaining 17 types Karmas are still bonded. 2.11 Suppressed delusion state – 11th spiritual stage: All veiling Karmas are subdued. A monk who has suppressed all the 21 types of deluding Karmas may now obtain perfect conduct. But this stage does not last long and delusion Karmas starts again acting and thus soul falls to lower spiritual stages. Here there is bondage of one type Karma that is the pleasure producing feeling Karma 2.12 Delusion-less state – 12th spiritual stage: In this stage the deluding Karmas are totally destroyed. The monk in this stage has now obtained perfect conduct which will stay with the soul for ever. To achieve this stage the soul uses the annihilation ladder. Here now one type karmas remains in bonding stage that is the pleasure producing feeling Karma. Here the soul becomes pure and self-conscious (Kevali). 2.13 Active omniscience – 13th spiritual stage: The monk who attained the 12th stage, starts destroying the destructive three type of Karmas knowledge obscuring, perception and obstructing Karmas completely. In this stage, he totally destroys all the 47 Ghati Karmas and undestructive Aghati Karmas such as 13 names Kerma plus others totaling 60 types. After complete destruction of these Karmas, soul achieves supreme knowledge. They are called by the name of conquerors or omniscient God. They are two types: 1. those cross over the world themselves only and do not preach the path of salvation to others. 2. They cross the world but they have power to preach the path of emancipation to the souls capable of achieving salvation with the divine sound. They have their disciples (Gandhar). 2.14 Inactive omniscient – 14th spiritual stage: The omniscient Gods, in this stage, become devoid of mind, speech, bodily actions and enter a stage of inactive omniscient. This is the last stage for the destruction of complete Karmas. This stage lasts for a very short time. The soul becomes absolutely pure and now is ready to travel in unit time to the adobe of Sihdha which is ever lasting state of happiness with permanency. 3.0 It has been discussed that the knowledge is independent nature of a soul. Hence there is no discrimination among the knowledge of Omniscient Gods. It is a perfect and full knowledge. Arhant Gods have a body where as Sidha Gods are without body. They are free from passions, attachment and desires. To achieve this knowledge, one needs to have perfect faith. One should know the present knowledge generates from self soul that has full power and by its support along with self effort, one can achieve the perfect knowledge and perception. The right knowledge person has always right faith and he knows how one can climb the spiritual stages, by self effort only. Higher is the effort, faster is climbing speed. There is no law that one has to climb gradually. One can jump to higher stages.
