The secret of responsible and delicious desserts
Everyone loves dessert but few realize just how easy it is to make low calorie dessert recipes. The answer is:not difficult at all, and besides it doesn't involve any extra costs to replace the calorie containing ingredients. All that is needed is a change of mindset when shopping for the groceries. Below are some easy changes to make, especially if you stock up ahead of time with the low calorie replacements.
Most of the cakes and other heated desserts which in the original recipe should contain oil or butter, the calories can be lowered easily by replacing these with smashed bananas or applesauce. The result of using these replacements is a far more tasteful and moist cake, and at the same time also more healthy.
If your recipe calls for eggs, just remove the yellow yolks and use the whites only. It takes two egg whites to replace one whole egg. The egg yolk contains the majority of calories and cholestoral, that's why. Your favorite dessert recipes will never know the difference!
For dessert recipes that have frosting in it, there is a very nifty alte
ative as well, the butter from the list of ingredients can be replaced with marshmallow crème. The consistency will be lighter and fluffier, without the butter fats. Marshmallow crème comes ready-made in a jar.
Low cal recipes can be very simple, one example people will love; take a bowl and put freshly cut fruits in it, use small pieces and mix it with some low-fat yogurt. You'll have a tasty Ambrosia type fruit dessert without the usual sour cream. Plain, fat-free yogurt is also higher in calcium!
There is good news for people who can't do without chocolate, there is a new product launched which taste like real chocolate, but it is made of whey. This whey-chocolate contains no chemical ingredients and no sugar or sweeteners as well. Very low calorie dessert recipe friendly, it's great for diabetics too.
Another good habit for preparing low calorie recipes, is always replacing the sugar with honey, which is much healthier as well. It's just as sweet and there is a whole variety of types available to give your dessert an extra edge. But if you don't have honey on hand, remember that brown sugar is better for you than white sugar, because the white is more refined and processed. Another option is to use molasses from sugar cane or beet, which is comparable to using honey in your recipe.
Naturally, there are also many sugar alte
atives sold in the grocery shop or super market, but in most cases these contain artificial sugars, such as aspartame, which is believed not to be as healthy as the other options mentioned before. The artificial replacements have many advantages and disadvantages, including medical impacts, so it is best to read about them before you buy. Newer recipe books include this type of information, but otherwise you can always find information on the internet.
So think 'substitutes' like fruit, honey and skim milk next time you want to make a scrumptious low calorie dessert recipe. I'm confident that you will not regret it for one moment, and your body will be grateful!
