Sex has power, but it appears that few people realize this or ever stop to think about it. In his classic 1937 book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill maintained that sex has three constructive potentials behind it: 1) The perpetuation of mankind, 2) The maintenance of health and 3) The transformation of mediocrity into genius through transmutation. In regards to the third potential of sex, Hill maintains that sex drives men to develop "(keen imagination), courage, will-power, persistence, and creative ability unknown to them at other times" and he suggests that this potential should be harnessed and redirected along other lines such as the creative forces of literature, art and any other profession or calling. This is what he means by sexual transmutation. Although I encountered Hill's book long before this time, I first read Hill's ideas in the 1980s. (Perhaps I read it earlier, but his idea of sexual transmutation never registered.) By early 1990, the same force or potential Hill spoke of drove me to write a book inspired by Hill and my wife and initially dedicated to her (but subsequently also dedicated to a friend of my wife and me, a friend who was suddenly killed in an automobile accident). The inspired book is entitled The Secret Power of Sex and Love. Secret Power consists of twelve chapters on topics ranging from the mental aspects of sex, the arts of making love and seduction, aphrodisiacs and more. While considering these varied topics, it points out and spends some time focusing on the generally overlooked spiritual aspects of sex. For example, when a man sees a beautiful woman, it arouses both physical and emotional changes. The force that arouses these changes is spiritual in nature. Keeping in line with Hill's ideas, the book considers how sex has value in helping one achieve personal goals and its value in the workplace. Hill points out that sex has health benefits. While everyone realizes that sex has value as entertainment and pure pleasure in addition to its place in procreation, how many people realize the health benefits of sex? Did you know, for example, that women who don't lactate are more susceptible to breast cancer and that prostate cancer in men can be associated with the man's decrease in sexual activity? Thus, for example, Catholic clergy and nuns and any other individuals who voluntarily abstain from sex for religious (or other) reasons also open themselves up to health risks. The Secret Power of Sex and Love is a well referenced book (with 33 pages of references) that focuses on many fundamental aspects of sex and love. It views sex as the creative process and love as the creative force, but it coins the ideas of "The Mating Maxims" and "The UDA Principles" to illustrate just how sex drives people to achieve goals in life. As the book opens, it quotes a passage from psychiatrist Avodah K. Offit's book Night Thoughts: Reflections of a Sex Therapist which states that "Sex was what everyone did in the afternoon when they went to ‘rest.’ They did it late at night too...Everyone did it with everyone else. Married women did it with busboys and waiters while their husbands were working in the city. Everyone knew." The term "Mating Maxims" refers to lessons I've learned about the sexual habits, behaviors and emotions "that exist even in children, continue through adulthood, and from what studies on sex in the elderly seem to indicate, will follow us to the grave." These lessons reflect the ideas presented in the opening quote from Dr. Offit. "The UDA Principles" refer to the Urges, Drives and Appetites that move people to their sexual behaviors. Many women who have read the chapters on the Mating Maxims and the UDA Principles have had conflicting reactions in that they disliked much of what was said and yet couldn't find reason to disagree with it. As the author, it would only be natural for me to state that the book is interesting, intriguing and engrossing, but I can truthfully say that others, both men and women, have found it likewise. I had a friend in her late twenties who refused to allow her older (by 11 years) sister to read it! It has much valuable information and many interesting facts. For example, did you realize that a woman's breast size can be permanently increased or decreased by hypnosis? Or perhaps you may not be aware that bisexual behavior among women is so common that the difference in bisexuality and lesbian behavior is only a matter of degree. (This is not true for men. A bisexual man and a homosexual man are very different.) And then, of course, there are the many health benefits and the generally overlooked aspects of sexual transmutation suggested by Napoleon Hill. Clearly, there is far more to sexual behavior than the passive observer may realize. There is much more to sex than mere procreation. Sex has real power in many areas of life and living.

NASCA (North American Swing Clubs Association) defines Swinging as, "social and sexual intercourse with someone other than your mate, boyfriend or girlfriend, excepting the traditional one-on-one dating. Swinging is not the same as swapping, because lots of swingers (men and women) are still single, so no need to swap. A good definition might perhaps be "recreational sex". In summary, swinging is for (mostly) heterosexual people who enjoy sex for its own sake, as opposed to p
