Perhaps the biggest secret to career success – whether you are an entrepreneur or high potential leader working for a major corporation – is to learn how to neutralize or negate negativity.
Negative energy comes in two forms, internal and exte
al. To help insulate yourself from the exte
al kind, surround yourself with positive people who are focused on performance and success, not failure. Avoid the naysayers and cynics in favor of those who interpret adversity as a challenging opportunity to prove their worth.
All of us have baggage that weighs us down in the form of insecurities, fears, and perceived shortcomings. But with the help of a trusted mentor or confidential coach you can overcome any negative hurdle, no matter how deep-seeded it may be. Once you break through that barrier you will be amazed how fast your career or entrepreneurial business will blossom and accelerate.
Otherwise if you remain immersed in negativity you’ll eventually internalize it, and then you will have a much more difficult problem to solve. Once we develop a negative perspective it colors everything we see, do, and think – including our own self image.
By the same token, if we cultivate a positive mindset it can improve everything in our personal and professional lives. So if you always feel the wind in your face, turn around and head in the opposite direction. Success invites success, so once you gain some positive momentum it will feed upon itself to rapidly put the wind at your back and help you catapult to the next level.
Your mindset will be contagious and attract positive, high performance people, too, and that will further reinforce your upward mobility and forward progress.
