If you are on the skinny side, I know you have heard from everyone around you how lucky you are that your metabolism is so fast and that you can eat anything you want. Now although it is cool not to have to worry so much about putting on fat, it is not as cool not being able to put on muscle either. So how long have you been trying to figure out how to gain weight with a fast metabolism? In truth, the principles are pretty simple, but in reality, it is still not the easiest thing to accomplish in this world. rnYour metabolism has its role in assisting you with gaining muscle. You have to understand that muscle building for skinny guys is going to take a huge commitment in order for you to see any really good results. You must make sure that you are following a thought out plan. This involves you following a sound diet, doing the right workouts, and making sure you are doing enough rest and recovery methods. Picking the Sound Diet You have to pay attention to numerous things while you are trying to eat the best diet, that will help you pack on solid pounds of muscle. What you eat is just as important as how much you eat. I believe that many skinny guys do not take this into account when selecting their food choices. In order to get the most bang for the buck, you have to make sure you are supplying your body with what it needs to grow, supply it in the right amounts and the ratios. Some of the most significant things to understand are: * Fast food is not a healthy muscle building food. * Fruits and vegetables will give you massive vitamins and nutrients. * Fish oil and good fats are important to take and help build muscle. * Lean protein is needed for muscle growth. * Drinking plenty of water is extremely important. Picking the Right Exercises There are a few principles that need to be understood in order to choose the best exercises and routines that give you the maximum results, from your time spent in the gym. First off, you need to pick compound exercises such as squats, deadlifts, pull-ups etc… A good rule of thumb is that the more joints that are involved in an exercise the more likely it will trigger a response from your body to start to build more muscle. Lifting heavy weights is needed for muscle growth, so you need to focus on a progressive cycle. meaning you need to keep lifting heavier weight. A good example of a hardgainer transformation is from Vince DelMonte because he made an awesome transformation and he too used mostly compound exercises in his workout routines. Secondly, you need to make sure you are doing the opposite muscle groups evenly. In other words, if you are doing a bench press, you should be able to do the same amount of weight and reps in barbell rows. This principle is extremely important to follow to make sure your muscle groups stay in balance. If your muscle groups become unbalanced, then possible problems could arise dealing with the joints around the immediate areas. Rest and Recovery rnNow here comes the part that many people overlook, rest and recovery. Most people think that the gym is where the muscle building takes place. Now in part this is true, however, while you are sleeping is when your muscles really grow. The exercise part is when you ask the muscles to grow and your rest is when they actually grow. So do not overlook the importance of rest and recovery to your overall muscle building success. It is recommended that you get at least 8-9 hours of sleep a night, to help your body rebuild its muscles and grow bigger. rnYou are probably thinking, well does not rest mean the same thing as recovery? Well not really, rest is more dealing with the sleeping aspect and recovery is dealing with other aspects such as stretching, foam rolling and icing your muscles.
