Yoga is a combination of breathing exercises (pranayama), physical postures (asana), deep relaxation (yoga nidra) and meditation (dhyana). Together they provide relaxation and calmness to the body and mind. According to the studies of medical sciences, yoga has both curative and preventive therapy. This is because of the balance created by the nervous and endocrine systems which influences the complete body system. These benefits of yoga have enticed millions of people around the world to practices yoga daily and they even read about how yoga was created. People are learning and discovering its benefits within themselves. People are seeking for it, as they realize the importance of self-contentment and inner peace. Following yoga postures, breathing exercise and meditation can help you relax from all the work pressure and health-related issues. Moreover, it can help you lose weight, lets you tune in and chill out at the same time. It regenerates positive thinking and pushes all the negative thoughts away. It balances all the natural hormones of the body and mind. This is the best type of healing for the human body. The continuous and disciplined practice of yoga can give you instant gratification and long-lasting transformation. The benefits of yoga are related to physical and mental peace both. The plus point of yoga is that you never feel monotonous about it, it’s always refreshing and rejuvenates you inside out every time you practice. It also benefits you on a long-term health. There are number of yoga “asanas” and their uncountable benefits, some of them are: 1. Kapalbhati: It helps in enhancing the body metabolism, cures indigestion and reduces body weight. It is a breathing exercise and has many benefits like curing asthma, lungs disorders, diabetes, acidity and many more. 2. Surya Namaskar: This asana is a compilation of 12 “asanas” in two sets and is considered to be one of the best “pranayamas”. It aids chronic diseases, hypertension, anxiety, stress and lower back pain. It provides flexibility and enhances energy. 3. Tadasana: It is also known as the mountain pose and is practiced to increase height, flatten the belly and it also provides a great relaxation to your hands and legs. 4. Slow neck stretches: This one is the basic and can be said as a warm-up exercise where you need to move your head slowly in one direction then another. It removes pain and stress from your body. This pose is good for all and can be performed anywhere. 5. Ardha Halasana: This is a half plough pose, it is good for abdominal organs and weight reduction from targeted areas like thighs, stomach, and hips. This asana also treats constipation and cures indigestion. If you are suffering from stomach ache, bloating, belching, lack of appetite, arthritis you should keep this asana in your daily yoga routine. Yoga means to unify all forms of life and is an approach to balance between physical, mental and spiritual life. Every person has a unique combination of body, mind and soul and yoga helps in maintaining this harmony in every individual.
